GuitarMaestro
Hi! Today I stained the first guitar top ever. As the Dye was wet it looked great. After it was dry again it looks very different. If I apply a clear coat of polyurethane to the guitar, will it restore the look of the wet dye or will it look like the dried dye under the poly? Thanks, MK! Myka Guitars
As soon as you apply some finish to the guitar the wet look will come back. It looks dull when dry but don't worry what you saw when wet is what yoiu will get. Take a look at someof the dye process pics I took of one my last guitars and you can see how much the lacquer brings the dried dye to life (scroll down): #009 process
guitar_ed
Hi MK, A little practice/experimentation will tell exactly what your dye will look like with lacquer on it. Just use the same type of wood. Guitar Ed
