can you stain wood before you use the CA or epoxy method of grain filling? or would filling the grains with grain filler then stain be more apropriate?

in reply to the grain filling - has anyone tried vinly grain sealer - as i have found this at a reasonable ish price, it apparently works! im thinking of using it on my next project!
