  1. thanks for all the replies yeah the cap was approx 23mm thick, it tapers down a bit towards the neck the back is approx 13mm thick and that also tapers towards the neck join the guitar weighs 4kg in total (8.81lbs) which is i guess just a bit less than an LP
  2. Hi, previously we posted some pics of the guitar during the build, but here's the finished guitar. A recap on specs: Maple top & back, chambered walnut body 1 piece cocobolo neck, the tenon extends just past the bridge posts, 25" scale, 2 way trussrod ebony fretboard cocobolo pickup rings Adeson 'lucifer' pickups ( http://www.adeson.co.uk ) Sperzel locking machine heads Pigtail wraparound bridge dont mind the pink shorts I'll be taking some more shots next week and hopefully get some recordings done soon
  3. here's some more pics after a few more clear coats (now showing the control cavity cover) still hasnt been polished, it probably has a few more sessions of clear to go, then time to cure etc
  4. Yeah the cocobolo is pretty nice:) natural colour too, no tinting on the neck in person, it's got a lot of variation..brown, red, purple and black in places here's some more pics, taken after it's had about 5 coats of clear, needs to be rubbed back and then have more clear applied, then polished
  5. Hi, just adding some more pics for Ralph (the original poster, i'm just going to be the guitar owner once finished ) At this stage, it's had one coat of stain applied. It's since been rubbed back and then stained again. I don't have any decent photo's of that though. The natural edge binding really looks good Will post some more pics when i can get round to ralph's place again
