  1. I have played both of these guitars and they were excellent, although the M1200 one is out of your pricerange:

Definitely worth trying to check out though, from what i've heard, Corts are far more common in music shops in Europe than they are in the states or here in Australia, but I really don't know for sure.  I was very impressed with the M1200, however they have changed the models a bit, as some have Seymour Duncan JB/59 pickups and some have mightymites, but for the same price, so it would pay to do some hunting.

Good Luck!  If you get in a jam, you could always do what im doing and spend a bit more and assemble a warmoth guitar?  They have lots of great stuff in their showcase.

nice... but still a Cort. :D

  2. Just so you know, the Wolfgang and the BSB are both basswood. :D

(as is Strange Fruit's third BTW)

I know ski. Thats why I mentioned it in the original post if you check. but you have to admit the Parker kicks Bum. or poo... can I even say these words anyway??? B) hehehe

  3. Thats cool Litch. Look I agree with Wes its a personal thing and some people have differing attitudes and views. Tonemonkey yes you are right there are always other factors involved again I agree with you. personally I'm just saying look this is my experience and this is my view. I have nothing against those who do smoke dope its a personal choice just like alcohol. i just wouldnt want it to be around me, and I would hate to have my life affected by someone that was high smasing the car into me or my friends or anything else.!

    peace all

    :D

  4. I'm still are in the armed forces, busting my ass to defend the freedom a lot of uss take for granted.

I don't know why you will say that it is my lack of education just because the fact is that it is illegal and that a lot of dealers are getting out with just a slap in the hand for selling drugs and are back in the business the very next day.  If punishment was harder at least it will make them think about it.  If the pot got legalized, they will still people selling it illegaly, just because it will be profitable.

and I think that your Bro should be ashame, not because of that he use to mug you about it, but because he fell for it (smokes), but you know what, is your health, and if you want to do it, go ahead, just make sure that who ever you buy it from, don't kill you, a friend or anybody close to you, because he was going to get caught and decided to out run the cops or any other situation...

The problem with drugs is not only the dealer ofr te user, is all the underground ecology that it involves, so good luck and tchuss.

ok I know i'm probably going to shoot against popular opinion on this but I wanted to share with you somthing I encountered in my own services with the armed forces. I was with the Parachute Regiment ( 3 para ) in bosnia. Let me give you all an exaple as to why I'm so against any kind of drug...

The Serbs were well known for the terror tactics they used. we had a case ( and i'll give you the date cos god knows it sticks in my mind 19/04/96 ) and a Serb had decided to get a young kind no more than about what 6 or 7 years old to run towards an anglo / american barracks with god knows how much c4 taped to his chest. We later learned that the kid had been gotten high on weed and told if he didnt get to the bunker within 60 seconds the kid was gonna explode. ( the poor fu**&^er was going to explode anyway for gods sake ). Now think about it your with IFOR (n part of the european rapid reaction force ) as i was and some CHILD is running at you with C4 all over him. you know you either shoot him and save many lives or you dont. The sad thing about this story is my BEST mate was on duty that night. his name was MAT and i know the poor sod didnt have the balls to shoot a kid. Instead he ran towards the kid to try and disarm him. i spent the best part of a full day picking my BEST mates brains up from the sidewalk. So I'm sorry if I dont agree to wahts being said here but I do agree with Maiden.

Frankly there are many better ways to get yourself off. If your to shallow to need the smoke well poor sorry you. of course its down to what you feel you can control and understand, but trust me anyone in any kind of altered mindstate can cause destruction and hurt to many people. That includes Drinking and even regular smokes. Frankly I ask everyone on this forum please do what you do responsibly and dont scar those of us who dont do it. However before you next take the chuff think about yourself and your life and imagine just for one moment what your life would be like if you DID actually cause someone harm. Trust me being on the recieving end... It SUCKS

  5. GE do you know if the "fair use" tag extends to countries out side of the US? I would imagine it does or there is some form of equivalent to this. I think a lot of the confusion in regards to this is because everyone on this forum does live all over the world where of course the different countries have different laws. However it does go to show with the whole copyright and trademark issue that it can obviously be attacked in several different ways ( at least thats from what I can see in this post ). Maybe we could take the best points from this discussion and enter them into a bullet point reference of what can and cannot be done? It may be easier for people toi understand than having to read through this entire thread and could be a good quick reference tool??

I think we all generally understand that you can build your replica, the problem comes with selling or passing that replica off as the real thing. I so hope I got that right!! :D

  6. I remember Brian May and Eddie Van Halen did some blues thing record together back then, it was a shortie record, like it only had 3 songs on it, but it showed Eddie VH playing strictly blues, although in his own shredder style. Kinda weird. He never did anything like that again AFAIK.

Totally forget what it was called, had something to do with old monster movies...

Brian May's "Star Fleet Project" with Eddie Van Halen

    As told to Jas Obrecht

Put in Internet by Gonzalo Plaza R. (gplaza@gloria.cnt.cl)

Star Fleet Project, a three-cut mini-album credited to Brian May & Friends, documents the rare airing of two rock's foremost guitarist in an informal jam setting: Brian May of Queen and Eddie Van Halen, winner of Best Rock Guitarist in this issue's Readers Poll. The sessions took place in Los Angeles on April 21 and 22, 1983, three month after Brian's Guiatr Player cover story. Also in attendance were Alice Cooper keyboardist Fred Mandel, REO Speedwagon drummer Alan Gratzer, and Phil Chen, bassist for the Rod Stewart band. "Star Fleet", the project's single, contains brief example of May's layered guitar technique, a signature sound on many Queen hits. May and Van Halen swap hot blues solos in "Let Me Out" and "Blues Breaker", which total 20 minutes. Here Brian shares his thoughts on his album and forthcoming video.

I'm trying to track down the tracks on limewire at the moment!!! :D

  7. Are we talking the SHOW or the MUSIC?

I saw them twice in the '70's, and yes, their show was really very good, it went from complete bombastic rock on one song to Freddie w/ a solo spot sitting down on the ivories, so yeah, they really did put on a great show, and had the loud/quiet/loud thing down pretty good, ...but I wouldn't say quite the best. But you know, if that's your bag, then you could say they had the arena rock thing nailed down pretty good, the point could be argued.

You might not think so, but Ted Nugent put on one helluva show back then, he really was a crazy MF, but in a different way.

And even tho they didn't have the show Queen had, Van Halen on their first national tour ('78?) just slayed. It was raw, fun, and completely crazy, so what they lacked in showmanship they more than made up for with  arrogant attitude and energy and a guitarist that was on his way to becoming a total legend in the world of rock guitar, and a front man that no one could really touch, even Freddie didn't have what Dave had when he was on top of his game back then.

But Dave didn't have the total range of talent that Freddie had either.

And don't get me started on Pink Floyd, hehehe...

    Arena Rock was cool.

I would actually say Queen's closest competition was probably The Who. They also did the quiet/bombastic/quiet thing too, and well, hmmm close call, both were completely excellent bands really.

I vote No Clear Winner, and I would have been completely too stoned to care to judge anyway, hehehe. B)

Good points there Drak, I was talking about the whole thing the shows, the music, the image everything!! I had an argument with a mate over if you were a complete girl for still listening to Queen. I argued that I couldnt care less I just thought they were fantastic. Then he started saying that Pink Floyd were better and filled more stadiums, things went downhill from there really. I stated name calling and he started stamping his feet. So i thought I'd ask a more intelligent bunch of people.

QUEEN ROCK ( and still listening to them does not classify you as being a raving poofta ) :D

  8. if you want to talk about older rock bands I think queen has it. Give me your iggy tosspot and Sting crap all you like, but the only other band I would compare to them is Led Zeppelin for success. Queen rock and although he was as blue as a tea towel god rest freddie!!!

  9. Lets be honest in detail anoyone who builds a replica guitar is breaking the law the second they sell it on. However knowing for example Brian and LGM's work on here and having seen it I personally would prefer geting something off them than a stock Ibanez anyday. Its a personal opinion but I'm unsure as to how it affects copyright laws, I do think as les mort dansantything said that you cant screw over a man who has nothing anyway. So what do the big guns do? I'm confussed!!!!

  10. B) Dan personally I'd think of filling the original route in and re routing the pocket to fit. From what i've found that for me works out easier than trying to shim the extra area up and creates a better seal. Its the hard way to go and hopefully some other ( more intelligent people ) on here will have some better ideas but on the Ibanez's i've worked on this method cant go wrong. The reason being to find shims and make them that fine is a hell of a problem, it may just be me but thats my 2 cents! cheers and good luck!

Oh and if your looking for replacement wood in aus give me a shout I know a few good suppliers! :D

  11. That's a 3rd Gen. J-Custom. They were not brought to the US, but you can order them from some shops in Japan (or contact Rich).

There are a couple of variations of the 'vine' inlay:

    - Regular Vine Inlay: We've seen this one on the JEMs that Vai plays.

    - Tree of Life (new): That's the one pictured above. It's a lot like the Vine, but....updated a little. More high-end Ibanez guitars are coming with this inlay.

    - Tree of Life (old): This one can be seen on some of the old Bob Weir models from Ibanez.

If you guys have questions about J-Customs, let me know. I have the largest collection of 1st. Gen. J-Customs on Earth (unless there's a new guy I haven't heard about. LOL). Be careful about posting J-Custom stuff on Jemsite; that got me suspended a couple of times.

    B)

Thanks Kev, do you by chance know some other models we may be getting coming through in the future with this vine? I've emailed Rich who will keep an eye out for me but basically i've been told by most people dont hold your breath! I know a guy called Cameron who works for Ibanez Australia ( Australis ) as they are called here and he has basically told me I have no hope! :D

  12. Hi everyone I was wondering if anybody knew much about this guitar...

    rg967000.gif

Notice the variation on the vine inlay which I really like. I'm trying to find out more info on where I could get hold of an original guitar however I believe the J custom series was only avaliable for sale within Japan with very few exported!

Does anyone know a good dealer to try to get hold of one or any further info on this type of vine? Is it a one off or did this vine appear anywhere else on another J custom or other model?

    Cheers! :D

  13. To be honest firstly coat your guitar in a white base and go from there. From what I have learnt from swirling this is the most important factor as far as getting a good colour goes. As for the red I'm not sure but wouldnt reccomend it I'd go white base anad work from there. make some practise bits and bobs first to test the water.

  14. Would this be a pertinent point?

If Dean goes ahead and makes a truckload of 'em, then after awhile they will attain collector status, and maybe help make a mark for Dean in the guitar world.

Or upper management will hide the first 500 until the prices skyrocket to $10,000., then cash in, and still keep a few for further on down the road.

But if they don't produce any at all, not a shot.

    Does that make any sense?

    Are you following me here?

It seems like the door has been opened to their golden parachute, all they have to do is simply go ahead with production and they're a shoe in for the bucks.

Thats actually a really good point, Dean cant lose right now as everyman and his dog would love to get there hands on one of the first Dimebag Deans. I just hope they do it with respect for him and the family to make sure nobody gets short changed. Maybe it would also be a good idea if some of the money they get for each guitar goes to set up a Dimebag Foundation or something?? B)

Seems only fitting as they are about to benefit hugely from this complete tragedy... :D
