  1. Yeah, I'm gonna do 4 single coil pickups (so, pretty much 2 humbuckers), but they'll all be wired in parallell. I'll have one master volume and one master tone knob. What resistance value should I get for my volume knob?
  2. Sweet! Are you set on a color yet? 'Cause that could look really awesome with a red front (transparent or not) and creme binding and pup mounting rings. That's just how I see it, though. It's your guitar.
  3. That could be it, actually. On the cheaper BC rich models, I've noticed a fair few of reviews commenting on how their knobs fell off. For example, two reviewers say so here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/B.C.-Rich-Metal-Master-Pack?sku=511201 Granted, its a different guitar but it might have the same knob and pot combination being from BC rich also. So, maybe the previous owner's knobs fell off and they decided to superglue them in.
  4. Sorry, I should have specified. I meant 42 AWG. Doesn't matter, though. That link helps a lot. Thanks (this'll make planning for windings SO much easier).
  5. Does anyone know what the impedence (in Ohms) per length (in any unit) of standard 42 gauge pickup wire is? The impedence per turn around a bobbin would work, too (though it would be less accurate).
  6. This is great. Pretty soon you'll be calling it the "Mike Viroc Pointy-Butt Guitar" officially. Classy I cast my vote for the pointy-butt, too. It's cool
  7. What kind of truss rod is it? (traditional single, double acting...etc)
  8. I've been considering getting a liscenced Floyd Rose off of ebay for pretty cheap. They don't come in the same models as the real deal, it seems. Basically I've only found single and double locking ones, none of the "original" or "pro" and whatnot. Does anybody have an opinion on what's better of the two? (I know the singles are cheaper and newer) Or should I just skip the whole venture because I won't get any tech support etc. from Floyd Rose with a liscenced model?
  9. Has anyone ever made a guitar with 2 pickups and a knob to adjust the balance between them rather than a selector switch? This would let you turn either or both on at whichever level you want while using only one knob (rather than 1 volume for each) and leaving the master volume unchanged. You'd need a linear pot with one pickup wired to tab one, the other wired to tab 3, and the output from tab 2. Has it been done, and if it hasn't, would it work?
  10. My philosophy is this: If you can get the stuff cheap and you can install it without damaging the guitar (or anything else, like, say, yourself), give it a try. If it sounds bad you can always put your old pickguard back on with pretty much no harm done.
  11. Doing the curves with that stuff sounds painful
  12. umm...he said he measured wrong because he was using a 10" ruler. So his "foot" was only 10 inches rather then 12, and he had 2 extra inches, at least.
  13. Cool. Thanks. Guess I wasn't looking hard enough
  14. Okay, I'm very new at guitar building. I've done tons of research and I pretty much have everything figured out. The only issue is that I can't seem to find any site or forum or anything that tells you how cut/shape/install a nut onto a neck. Anyone have any tips?
