  1. There's a guy in the 'Public Classifieds Buy-Sell-Trade Area' who is an Ibanez dealer. I've never bought anything from him though, but if you PM him or send him an e-mail, he can at least give you a price...

vwall's not selling them anymore, apparently. I emailed about a month and a half ago, and that's what he said. It might be worthwhile to ask again, though.

  2. I just put a couple of the film piezos in my Ibanez Edge III bridge. I had to take all the saddles off, loosen the screws that hold the top plates on the sustain block, and slid 'em in between. I wasn't watching the clock, so I'm not sure, but I'm sure it didn't take much more than an hour to do it.

They're quiet as hell, though, so my next project will be a preamp for 'em.

  3. You CAN get the sander, but you cannot get the little plastic contours to go with it without buying the whole kit, and those things wear out relatively quickly.

I did a 22 fret neck in about 6 or 7 hours with an assortment of files and rasps that I got for about $10 at Menards.

  4. I'm buying my parts for my guitar, and I've been looking at 7-string trems. I'd really like to get an ibanez, but the only place i know of to get it is going to run me about 300 bucks, sans locking nut, which adds another 90 to the price. I see Warmoth has licensed Floyd 7's with the nut included for less than half that, which makes me wonder if there are any serious quality issues with them, or if the Ibanez ones are just more expensive because they're harder to get. Has anyone tried Warmoth's out, or heard anything about them?

  5. I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not. :D

I didn't officially take any stance, really. I do agree that the momentary button would be much easier. I know a short is much quieter than an open circuit, too, so I guess I don't agree with that.

What about an effects processor and an expression pedal? That'd give the on-the-fly variability you're looking for, without bending over (unless you count the cost of the equipment). :D

  6. Sometimes simplicity is king. I vote for a "momentary, normal on" temporary switch. It's a button that kills your signal when it's pressed but otherwise normally completes the circuit (your signal gets through).

If I'm not mistaken, you just need to wire it in-line with the output jack. Pretty simple operation, I would think. If there's a better place than in-line with the output jack, someone else can pipe in.

If you do go with the kill switch, you should get a N.O. momentary switch, and put it between your signal and ground wires. This is MUCH quieter than using the N.C. switch and breaking the circuit. It should go between your output jack and the rest of your electronics. I've done this on both of my guitars with no problems.

If you really do need the hard trem effect, and don't mind doing some routing in your guitar, you could probably work something out with a 555 timer and a transistor to short the signal to ground.

  7. Hey man, congratulations. I've got an RG350, and I have an Evolution bridge with a P.A.F. Pro neck pickup. The Evo is a dream for metal riffs. I don't use the neck pickup that often, and when I do it's usually for cleans, so I can't help you there. As far as a pickguard goes, you should be able to find one on ebay for less than 30 bucks. Probably 20ish.

  8. Hey all, I love the information on this site. I've been a member for a few months, this is my first post.

I've got a red guitar with black everything else. I was wondering if anyone knows where I'd be able to find white tuners and a white locking trem/nut. The bridge I have is an Ibanez Edge III, so I'd prefer to put another one of those back in, but I really just want to know if anyone out there makes hardware in colors other than black, chrome, and gold.

    Any ideas?

I want a bad ass candy cane guitar. :D
