Send it back to them, they're awesome about returns.

That's why it's better to use a curved clamping caul. It distributes the pressure more evenly.

It's awesome that they're trying to push things forward and developing new technologies. With that being said, my layout of choice is two HBs, 3-way, maser volume and push-pull master tone for coil splitting. 6 very useable and distinct tones.

Target's 6000 and 9000 stuff is milky in the can and dries clear if you lay down thin coats. Put it on too thick, and you'll have a nasty blue haze (ask me how I know).

Here's some great info:

I did my floors in Jatoba, and made some necks and fretboards with leftovers. It's heavy and prone to tearout, but stable as can be.
Today was supposed to be new Sapele day for me, too, but my normal supplier was out, so I picked up some 12/4 Kahya. It's definitely lighter (weight-wise) with similar color, grain structure and ribboning to Sapele.

Hey, does anyone know of a TOM with a 2-7/32" (56mm) string spread?
Thx

I installed a Super Vee Bladerunner the other day. They're really well-made and no pivot points to wear out.

They look like these eBay cheapies.
Nice guitar though

For dyes and nitro, if you're in the states (fill out your location in your profile) check out Rockler or Woodcraft. Radio Shack soldering irons usually work fine, it may just need a new tip.

What's the condition of the black EMG 81 and the 85s?

This is an invaluable tool.

Checking borders.com, it's supposed to be available today.

I love the dragon

Thanks, I'd like to avoid the razor blade option, it doesn't quite look authentic (to me anyway). I'll give the heat/cold cycle a shot, but I'm pretty sure the natural checking occurs from the nitro shrinking over time.

Any ideas how to get the look of old cracked nitro like on a Gibson from the 40s (without waiting 60 years)?

FYI: The American Deluxe Strat, PRS Custom 24 and 70s Les Paul Custom are all 9/64"

Either 3/32" or 1/8"

... if you don't LIKE thinking like that, then good luck with lutherie.

+1. There are many variables that can't be generalized that you need to calculate yourself. It's not difficult if you go about it logically.

There's a PDF floating around by Matt Vinson that oulines how to build one in detail.
