  1. I don't know if it will help but have you seen this site..... http://users.pandora.be/marnix.ghesquiere/ondex.html
  2. Well you're prices seem very cheap but I'm not sure about buying from overseas as I've heard that you have to pay import duties.
  3. After drooling over some off the awesome work on this site I've decided to get some equipment and start building I'm buying a router, sander, etc this week and have been trying to clear some space in my very cramped shed so I can get to work. Can anyone suggest some suppliers of body blanks in the UK? and what kind of prices can I expect to pay? I'm only want something cheap to get started on maybe Ash or Alder?
  4. Thanks Southpa I'm quite pratical as I restore and sell motorbike parts for a living, but I've never done much wood work before. I've got drills, files, saws, soldering irons....etc, it's the bigger stuff I'm a clueless on. I think I'll start off buying a router and bandsaw and see how I go. I don't intend to make guitar necks to start with just bodies, I think I'll leave that until I've gained a bit of experience
  5. Yeah I saw that earlier, I love the hacksaw blade with a masking tape handle I've got to get myself one of those
  6. 'Chromatic' tuners can tune any note, unlike a regular tuner which will only reconise E A D G B E, so they're good for weird tunings etc
  7. Hi guys, After looking around some great websites (includeing this one) over the last couple of weeks, I've decided I'd like to start making my own guitar. Could someone please tell me what basic equipment is needed to do this, bandsaw, routers...etc cheers
  8. I just remembered that the guy was also selling an Ibanez neck in another auction, if it was designed to fit an Ibanez neck I'm guessing that would acount for the flat 'tele' style heel?
  9. Yeah the bridge is a bit different, it's a Schaller Quadmatic, when I first saw it I thought it was a Floyd Rose until I saw the back of the guitar and I thought 'wher the hell are the trem springs?' I haven't ordered a neck yet, I'm good friends with the guy in my local guitar shop so I'll take it in to him and see if he's got a few necks kicking round to make sure I get one that fits. Here's a few more pics.......
  10. Thanks for clearing that up I was thinking about buying the Jackson style neck that Allparts make, I'm just hoping this body has a standard Fender neck pocket. I only won the auction yesterday so I haven't received it yet but here are the ebay pics.....I think there's a nice guitar under there somewhere, what do you guys think?
  11. Thanks a lot That's very interesting as I read a few days ago on a different forum that 22 and 24 fret necks couldn't interchange, I can't remember the very theory behind it but this guy reckoned that the guitar would never intonate properly. This was the reason behind my question. So as long as there's room for the neck pickup this IS possible then?
  12. Hi, I've just brought a Jackson Rhoads copy body made from Black Walnut (so I'm told) how can I tell if it was designed for a 22 or 24 fret neck? can anyone help?
  13. I seach Ebay all the time, but I'm looking for somthing better than an Encore Yeah I've seen them on Warmoth's site, but I don't want to buy from abroad as I don't want to get stung by VAT duties
  14. Yes but they only have Mighty Mite necks that have dot inlays and a PRS style headstock, I'm not too bothered about the headstock design but I don't think Les Paul's look right with dot inlays. It's a cool site though prices a very good.
  15. I'm only after a bolt-on type neck, nothing to fancy. I'm on quite a tight budget but I don't mind paying a decent price for the right neck
  16. Hi, I'm buiding up a bolt-on Les Paul copy from parts, I've got a very nice mahogany body from ebay but I'm looking for a neck. I'd prefer a brand new one but I can't find many places selling them in the UK, can anyone suggest where I can get one from Cheers
