  1. i am going to be ordering some of the switches soon iam doing both TPDT and dpdt swithces... if you want to piggy back on the order let me konw.. i can order a few extra.. i get the TPDT for 6$usd and the others are like 4$usd.. if you want to get some let me konw. i wont' be ordering for probally a couple of weeks. depends on how much fundage i can scrape up

  2. i use hammond or hammond style boxes.. usualy the 1590C for the penguin love.. but some of the first designs (under different names..) have been in 1590BB's and 1590S's as well as i have some custom enclosures done for me from a friend of mine in a machine shop. they are sloped to look like the snarling dogs.. and they are sheet metal, i also have some diamond plate stuff i am working on like my fat foot wah. when you have a foot as big as mine a regular wah pedal gets lost under it.

anyway to answer your question about the switches. i use mostly TPDT carlings with and led and a 1k resistor for the current limiter.

for the sampler pedal i use two dpst moementarys from alpha so it has an indicator as well.

the original pedals didint' have an led they had dpdt switches though. and no power jacks. cause i couldn't afford it.

funny how things turn out. i built a little pedal fro my friend. he went to go buy another amp took his guitar and pedal with him.. people heard them and offered to buy them in the raco boxes that i first demoed them in.

i am hoping to do some new clips this weekend. as i am about to get my carvin clone done.. someone threw away a beatup guitar and i rescued it from the garbage.. all i need is a lespaul stlye bridge well just the actual saddle and stud pieces i converted it to be string thru. and i got my garage amp up and running.

also there are a few of my pedals floating around out there with electronic switching.

  3. half scallops that get deeper as you go down the neck.. i like my chord work to be tight and in tune.. for leads i can concentrate on my control more and zipity do da all around the fret board.. i start around the 8th fret and just hardly get the g string in there. as it goes down the neck it gets deeper and wider. till all the frets are done...

also on that note.. i have had several guiatrs that i have completely scalloped and although i love it to death.. i also dont' have many necks that can stand up to the abuse i put them through with 16's. so my full scallops have to stick with 12's. anything less and i can snap them with my vibratto. lol no more 10's

  4. whenever i get a piece of nice gear that is too expensive to fix i usually canablizie it.. so when i started measureing some of the relay coils i found although a little high in the resistance.. they do make nice sounding inductors for a wah pedal.. now you have to change the signal driving the coil as the standard setup doens't quited cut it. makes it a little weak.. but if you like to tinker they make great little wah inductors..

on the same topic. you can use the freq fromula with inuctor chokes.. they make a great little 100micro henrie one you can get for like a dollar and make your own tone contrls with it.

  5. if you go to school for electronics right now, stick with it until you get your bachelors if you dont' you will most likely be sorry . i went to EE school with a double magor in comptuers and robotics.. and near graduation i did the market survey that they offer for around 20 dollars.. they go ahead and try to place you and they make your resume look good.

with two associates and a 3.7gpa and on the deans list.. (not sure what the magna something would be) and written recomendations from all my professors.. i couldnt' find a job making more than 19 thousand a year. before taxes. 21 thou if i wanted to relocate to atlanta or something. which is like lmaking 7$ an hour cost of living wisewhere i am now, compared to atlanta.. i can live nicely.. not too poorly at 20 G's a year in chatanooga.. but in Atlanta, that won't keep you fed, and will hardly pay bills unless you already own your own home, and have your vehicles paid off.. still even then it won't do much

in short, if you are going to make a living.. at it.. good luck but carefully weigh your options. i almost had al my classes done and now i am going back to school to finish up for radiology..as all i have to take is the medical classes i have all th eother credits.

but if you are taking to learn then its a great idea..

  6. after checking my old wiring i had a carvin switch that was three way, will ahve to look at the wiring on it to re do schematic.. for it.. but heres the way my night swan was wired using supposedly an on on on .. it was three possitions but it had the same amount of poles as a dpdt and it acted like a dpdt but had a third possition.. it ididnt' cut out one side like the normal ones did. just to expirament i took out the switch and wired up an led indicator to it to see if it really worked. (before i had a multimeter) after i got a meter i checked continuity and it functions as drawn. never could find a part no. for it. i am not sure but i dont' think it was stock.

  7. :D hmm tried r5eplying but it didint' take.. i sent it out to brian already so i will let anyone who builds it decide.. but the first clip is well over 10 seconds longs and sounds pretty darn good to me..

of course it would have been better had i gone ahead and set the bit rate of comppputer when i dumped the audio in

  8. no i meant a three way.. the old strat kind that had neck middle bridge only.. what you do is most pickups would have the top coil as the output, you basically have to find out which coil goes where, ie lets say the inner coil on the bridge is the north coil and the inner on the neck is the south coil.. instead of using both north coils or both south coils depending on which manufactur setup you have you use the bridge norh coil as your hot coil going to the switch.. and the south coil from the neck as your hot coil.. the other side of the switch when neck is selected you have the bridge coil cut and when bridge is selected you have neck coil cut. so when you select both you have both inner coils sleected works better with a on on on switch double pole.

i was told they dont' make a toggle like this. but my night swan had it when i was into playing some dream theater covers in the band.. measured it with the mulitimeter and it functioned just like a dpdt instead of the normal on on on switch usually only one half works one way one half works the other way.. if i coudl find another switch like this i would buy stock in them. as i can't find the part no.

  9. use a pot a batterie, a lm386 and make a feedback circuit that you can manipulate.. once you get that total saturation and feeding it back upon itself it will be like an oscilator. whic you can vary the pitch with the volume knob

where can i get one of these (i also love feedback and am too cheap to buy distortion pedels) about how much do they cost, and how do i fit one in to my guitar?!? :D

i have a few of these on some perfboards.. i can put them on a push pull pot if someone was interested. it is similar in principle to the emg afterburner but i make it a positive feedback loop ie ouput on input controled via a pot. if you send me a push pull pot. i would do it for 7 bucks and shiping. that covers my packing and my chips and caps. or if you dont' have a push pull basically they are 10 bucks. for the push pull

  10. hi,

i love feedback and generally disgusting noises.

i was wondering if anyone has any schematics for any circuits that i could put into my guitar to make horrible noises. I like the idea of the black ice module but it would be too expensive to get to england.

    any help would great!!!!

    :D

yeah a really easy way.. use a pot a batterie, a lm386 and make a feedback circuit that you can manipulate.. once you get that total saturation and feeding it back upon itself it will be like an oscilator. whic you can vary the pitch with the volume knob

  11. DividedByJames>>>> same track i was thinking about when i did a single inlay on my ibanez. i did a 3rd fret pyramind clear, with a clear green led. for just one, i decided to use a 5mm led that i ground down the sides of it so i twould lay flat. also painted sides and bottom flat, so light would be focused on clear inlay.

since i ddint' care about how the back of the neck looked i did a quasi snake river desgin on the back of my neck with a router attachment tool fromdremel. wired the wires through it.and into the neck pocket and to the guitar. used a special batterie (low voltage high mah from my electronics store) and put the switch and batterie where the les paul toggle switch would go. on my ibanez strat style. since then, i have done a custom piece with a fiberoptic cable about a 1/2" from the edge of the fret board took some creative drillling. and planning to say the least. but well worth the effort. i believe i still have plans drawn up if anyone is interested.. also it has a basic led flashher that you can vary with a pot.

  12. pretty cool there brian at these prices people can build a analog/light transmission fx loop for their pedal boards..

    ie (guitar>>>wireless>>>light converter>>>fo cable>>>decoder>>>pedal board>>>>>encoder>>>fo cable>>decoder>>>>amp)
