  1. look for my thread a couple days back.....it says like "pickup placement from bridge" theres some good info there.....should be on page 2 or 3
  2. yeah they are awesome for pickguards, but im making an acrylic pickguard.
  3. they're probably just not used to playing in tune I know that feeling . I'm thinking of either blocking off the trem completely on my strat and making it a hard tailpiece, or fitting it with a FR. I just don't like the idea of having to unlock the nut to change tunings . Devon wait isnt FR floyd rose? and dont those require a locking nut? so wouldnt you have to unlock the nut w/one ? i dunno man, i dont think a Floyd Rose gives bad tone, or worse then a regular trem. We all know how tone-**** Vai is, he uses mostly all Floyd Roses!
  4. i just find it might be a hassle to make my own pickguard. Not sure if anyone sells S/H pickguards..seen S/S/H...S/S/S...and H/H, but no S/H
  5. Just routed my humbucker about 1/2inch, wanted to know how deep you should routee for a humbucker and how deep for a single coil, thanks oodles oooooo another question, if part of my stewmac single coil routing template got scrapped off a bit...does that not even matter if I'm going to have a pickguard because It would be covered? or should I still be extra careful because Im not sure about having a pickguard yet? Would it be very noticable? (it's a very small notch that just sort of curves up...some of the acrilyc got routed out on my practice session )
  6. how about my idea with a mini-strobe light(a camera flash that keeps going off!) under the pickguard ok now im dreaming
  7. oh come on you know you want a lp with a gold original floyd rose and neon inlays nah that looks good. mahagony and mahagony with gibson pickups is going to get you that warm LP sound, and even though most LP's neck is angled back, it'll prolly be best just to do a bolt on for your first.
  8. What would be a better site to buy a fretboard off of? Stewmac LMI is LMI probably more accurate/advanced or what? thoughts? ive heard great things about stewmacs fingerboards.
  9. two words tube screamer + distortion pedal = awesome
  10. Contouring the body on the back of the guitar where it hits your stomach (so it's comfortable) how do you go about doing this? I assume you could just sand it down, but is there an easier way? It's mahagony and It's an ibanez jem shape, really want to contour it so it's more comfortable to play.
  11. im 16 and im building mine, tools is probably my biggest problem besides money.
  12. yeah thanks.... im gonna just go with indian rosewood instead of brazilian or ebony, just 15$...hey Brian, you sell floyd roses i hear?
  13. can I get the links to brains/dereks webpages if you guys have webpages or should I PM etc?
  14. Yeah, listen to his advice when you buy a floyd off of ebay. People can play tricks with words and get away with it.. I would steer you away from floyd rose off of ebay
  15. Ok, I'd love to build my dream guitar but, seeing as it's my first guitar, what if it's horrible? I know the body will be fine but what if the fretting is horrible and it wrecks the rest of the guitar and i have a 150$ bridge on a POS guitar? etc...thoughts please?
  16. kind of on the subject....I take digital photos of my guitar work but theyre HUGE, how can i make them smaller without blurring them? is it a camera setting on the camera, or is it in the Kodak Workshop program thing er what?
  17. Keep in mind that floyd rose is liscened not an Original. an Original is ideal, liscened just means they pay floyd or whoever for the name floyd rose and they can use cheaper parts etc...
  18. wouldnt those be more of a hassle because a.) they're a lot taller and would be harder to drill holes for? b.) they arent as bright so you would need more? I dunno you're the expert, so emphasize a bit for me please.
  19. yeah..i think that is what he meant by "weird tools" oops beat me to it
  20. whats that red thing? looks like an l.e.d. from a pedal or something..
  21. those are fairly small...about how much do they go for? Im pretty sure a family member of mine might have one...but are they like 50?
  22. Yeah thanks that's all I wanted to know.....so how would I go about finding the radius of my gibson LP? btw by weird tools I meant the type of stuff Stewmac sells, I mean like special rulers and such, they arent weird, you just cant find them at your local hardware store usually. Special Tools I should say?
  23. yeah it's funny looking what kind of tool would you use for that? i member seeing it on the sight of a guy that made a jem....
  24. erm wait so can a person somehow find out the fingerboard radius on their fingerboarD? edit: by measuring, not by reasearch...or do you need some weird tools?
  25. that'd be awesome. I thought about that in my topic on Solid body (using just one mirror though, I didnt think about two facing each other) so what kind of material would the pickguard be made out of? i cant quite grasp how you would see through a mirror or something...
