  1. I plan on makin a guitar and when it comes to finishing i want to etch words into it. Now how would I do this? would this work? After i finished my colour coats and let dry for a few days. should I use a solderin Iron or a Dremel to etch in words so that the colour of the wood is showing through? After the words are etched should I sand Seal over top of it all so it is level? or would the aerosol sanding sealer, have any negative effects you could think of?, and then i will apply my lacquer... any suggestions?

  2. I just have a little question on wet sanding. I wet sanded my guitar, with no other problems, i wet sanded with 400 and 600 grit Norton SandWet sand paper. after that i waxed it with Turtle Wax Scratch and Swirl Remover but im not sure it was for wood. My question is, do i need higher grit sand paper? or just better polish? because after I buffed the guitar and the scratches were faintly visible Throughout the entire guitar. Could you guys just give me like specific, sand paper and grits? and possibly the polish you used? that'd be great

    what do i do

  3. I agree that the good talented bands don't get the fame they deserve, its completely the industry, a lot of mainstream is so similar and always puts out the same garbage. wow I watched a ton of vids of dragonforce and they sound so bad, i think the guitarists missed or made a mistake on every harmonic.

  4. It doesn't bother me that dragonforce gets the credit it gets, thats up to the fans, and i know there is many bands that don't get a lot of credit, but it doesn't change their music so credit and jealousy are out of the question, i don't get why people compare Herman Li and DF to other bands, music is music no matter what you can't seperate the facts that guitar and lyrics and musical talent are different, better bands just do more with music, which DF does not, dragon force just doesn't have much variety in there playing people may find it exciting but i think there only a fad, if the produce another identical album to their last.....unlikely

  5. and most technical

he probably is on of the best but too bad guitar playing isnt just about technique.....which is why i find alot of that music like a drill into my head

Technical or not, it's clear herman Li doesn't put much feeling into his songs, since there all the same pretty much ? How technical a guitar player is, is huge, Herman Li doesn't incorperate, Jazz and blues in solos like other players from progressive bands do, and taking into consideration jazz is a type of music that can't be "drilled into your head" its all about feeling which herman doesn't haven as well as talent, he is over rated but he is still a good guitar player, people just blow him up bigger than he should be

  6. So I've listened to dragonforce and more then just one song, and it seems to me that they TRY really really hard to be the fastest guitar players out there, mean while there guitar skills are weak and are not even comparable to guitar players like , Michael Romeo, John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, these guitar players acutally know music, anybody watch the herman li betchya can't play this? haha he doesn't even know what key he is in, and his buddy is tapping with a pick? this is pathetic. People say they sound so good and there singer is great, Russell Allen from Symphony X absolutely blows him away. and meanwhile dragonforce is terrible live anyhow, and ive heard many people say this. Michael Romeo of symphony X is lightyears ahead of Herman Li and a lot faster and he incorperates more guitar technique. Dragonforce is a German metal band wanna be, German metal has been playing solo duets forever, jsut listen to the right bands, and people think dragonforce's solos and duets are great? dragon force is a bunch of rookies who are just trying to be the fastest progressive and metal band around, while they sound like total crap, so maybe by now you can see i hate dragon force hahhah

  7. ive been doing some research on using spraypaint and such, and none of it has sounded to good, i want a finish that will last atleast. so is there places like auto body shops or something that could do the painting for me. and what kind of clear would they most likely use. cause ive done a ton of reading and the only stuff people talk about on this forum is what not to do, i had trouble finding some straight up advice on some of this stuff...

  8. ya thanks that helped a alot, i jsut did some reading on it so im thinking of routing the bridge and ill route the neck pocket flat and prolly make a really good shim for it so that when i adjust my bridge to lower or higher the action, the proper sized shim will do so and make sure the action is adjustable.. will this do the job?

Will I have to install the bridge to just make sure the strings will get the righ clearance when i lower or higher the action?

  9. Ya I could possibly do the design with automotive paint all i need is black and white, but it was much easier to do the design with house paints so ill need to do some practicing with some spray paints. What name brand of paint goes well with laquer, I have the mohawk nitrocellulose laquer?

  10. I'm making pretty much an ibanez rg 350dx body and I have a 24 fret neck, I've heard things about having to route the neck pocket and a slight angle so the strings don't touch, so does this apply to this body im making? or can I just route a flat neck pocket with no angle?

  11. What sound do you want?

Gibson LP- mahogany body, mahogany neck

Jackson - Alder body, maple neck

Ibanez RG- basswood body, maple neck

This is only a little guide, your guitar may not sound like the guitar brands above!

Ya I wanna go with alder, i love jackson guitars, sweet thanks

  12. I have a floyd rose double locking trem. and i need to route the cavities for it, does anyone have a blue print or something for how it should be done, or instructions for me, and the 2 mounts that the tremelo is sitting on, is it just screwed into the wood?

  13. I've never done a swirl finish on a guitar but I'm curious as to what protects the wood when you dip it in the water and oil paint, you'd think the water does something to the wood, but what prevents any damage being done from the water?

  14. k instead of clear coating a million times, i got this stuff that basicly gives you the exact finish in one coat, the reason being that one coat of this mixture is equal to 55 coats of varnish? and the finished result isnt very thick and it feels the same as if i put a laquer or clear coat on and sanded, it gives it an amazing shine as well. any reasons why this may not work? cause im positive it should

and what stuff is this, praytell????

No its called Nu-lustre-55 it covers prety much any craft your working on
