but the question is, Can I use it for building a neck?
Purpleheart is the second hardest comertial wood in my country, been Quebracho the hardest. We have a wood we call Vera, thar is the hardest wood we have, but it's so hard that is almost imposible to work with

Yes, for Bass go the active way !!!!

Hi, in my guitar project I'm in the process of starting my neck building and had here some woods I think I can use for it,
They are Peltogyne Spp. (Nazareno / Purpleheart) and Quebracho or Algarrobo (Lysiloma divaricatum)
Both are very hard an beautifull woods
Are the good for neckbuilding? are they too hard?

It has a 12 mm top cedar, 26 mm mahogany center, 5 mm cedar back.
Also the top portion where the borige goes is all mahogany.
Tonewise cedar is very bassy, it is used a lot in clasical guitar building.

I put a cedar veener on the guitar body to hide my mistakes, and it looks so sweet!!!
I will try to get better pictures, but here you have:

how do you route that cavity?
-
The problem with it (leaving it natural colour) is the pretty obvious mistakes I made that are fixed but are evident
-
It's cedar/mahogany/cedar with a pice of mahogany for the temolo.
And the baby body cutting is done, here are the new pictures:

Hi
First of all I have to say That I had no previous experience in wood working at all.
But I'm finishing the routing process of my first body, I made some fixable mistakes and I feel very proud of my unexperienced results so far.
