  1. Howdy, Silly question of the day. If I put 3 PUPs on a guitar there are 7 options: Neck, Middle, Bridge, Bridge/Middle, Bridge/Neck, Neck/Middle, Bridge/Middle/Neck. The standard way to do things is with a 5 way switch. I don't want to do things the normal way. I wanna do things my way! Does anybody make a 7 way switch? Does anybody know what the wiring configuration would look like? Am I out of my f&^%ing mind? This is for my walnut body guitar, so I will be using humbuckers. I do not plan on splitting coils or stuff like that, but I would like a vol & tone for each PUP. Thanks in advance for the help. Guitar Ed
  2. OK, so I found the polling booth. Finally. But my opinion has not changed. Ack! Pft! Guitar Ed
  3. I don't know how to vote, so.... ACK! PFTT! Guitar Ed
  4. Well, they are here. In the garage at the moment. Hopefully today I can take out the two that I ordered and take some pics, etc. See what I got. YeeHah!!!! Guitar Ed
  5. Me Want! I had the same question with the Walnut guitar. I have decided to center the butt end of the neck into the peak of the arc of the grain. Guitar Ed BTW: What kind of wood is that?
  6. Hi All, I got my slab of Walnut today. I put a picture of it on www.stormriders.com/guitar/telecaster. Heavy sucker. Later, Guitar Ed
  7. Hi, Try www.seymourduncan.com They have lots of PUP wiring options on the site. You can also send them an email, though my experience is that they do not always respond in a timely fashion. But sometimes...... Good luck Guitar Ed
  8. Hi Brian, I will do so, but don't hold your breath. I have 2 Tele projects in process right now, and I have to finish them first. Talk to you later. Guitar Ed
  9. Howdy, One of the projects that I have been planning on the StewMac web site is a resonator guitar. I went to the site tonight to get some prices and model numbers, and they now have 3 resonator kits available. And the prices are reasonable. 1) Square neck wood - Bluegrass Resonator 2) Round neck wood - Blues Resonator 3) Round neck metal - Delta Resonator Personally, I am stoked! Later days. Gutiar Ed
  10. Hi, I just talked to a friend of mine who has a (single) piece of walnut large enough to make a Tele from. Is there anything that I should look for in the wood that is a potential "gotcha". Thanks much. Guitar Ed
  11. My current guitar collection is: Les Paul Studio, Black, with Humbuckers Taylor 310 No electrics Gretsch Tennessee Rose (new) with Filtertrons Custom built Telecaster knockoff with Duncan 5-2 pickups. I have two more Tele's underway, then a resonator and then an archtop. Life is fun. The amp is a Peavy Bandit 212. No sound effects pedals or anything so far. Guitar Ed I may play poorly, but I play with enthusiasm.
  12. My personal weakness is for archtop guitars. I love the shape and the sound. A real 50's or 60's Gretsch would be awesome. In the meantime, I am building some guitars that I like to play Guitar Ed I may play poorly, but I play with enthusiasm :o
  13. Hi, I don't know too much about veneers, but I have found a good source for guitar woods to be www.exoticwoods.com in New Jersey. They sell woods in 1/4" thicknesses. I have been happy with them so far. Great quilted maple, and the guys know their woods. Guitar Ed
  14. Hi, I have used the clear nitro from StewMac, and I am happy with it. I have not tried reranch yet, but I will. As for oil/alchohol vs water based dyes, I have used only water based. And it does pop the grain a bit. But that is curable with a light sanding of 320 grit sand paper. oil/alchohol will not pop the grain. I prefer the water based because I can use the sanding process to create some effects. This is pure opinon, not fact. One thing that I will say is that I do NOT like applying colored nitros to the unstained wood. I don't think that it looks as good. I prefer the old fashioned approach: Stain the wood directly. Enjoy, Guitar Ed
