This might not count but I found a 60's Mosrite Ventures model Bass in a dumpster. Brought it home and threw it in the closet, a year later I stumbled accross one on ebay so I listed mine and it sold for just a hair under $1300

Buy a clear pickguard and sand the underside in one direction with 800 grit sandpaper then paint it with silver paint.

Those paints are aweful thin, I'd bet you couldnt use a brush because of the consistancy of tha paint. as far as lung protection, Doug wears a full face respirator 1. to keep from breathing the fumes, and 2 to keep overspray out of his eyes

Goes to show you that you "dont always get what you pay for"

absolutely incredible!!!!!!!!

dont forget that the more of the total length of the string that contacts the nut could effect the sound as well. example, the thin nut on a strat compared to a Gibson style

Brian, is there any way to put members' location in their profile like on other forums?
It's hard to recommend things such as vendors/suppliers when you don't know where members are located

Oh common I thought this board was for learning and education. Now we have secrets here. What is that?!?! I just joined this board and I am disappointed that such a thing would be said when we are all seeking information. What is the point of this board then?
No secrets, it's like the couple of guys that do swirl finishes, they feed their families by doing these finishes. Sure, alot of people know how to swirl but not many know how to do it right. I'm not going to tell you how to do it and take money out of Doug's pocket. If he wants to tell, that's great but it's not my place to give out information that he trusted me with.
-
So.... how is this finish done?? Details please!!
I'm sorry, I'm sworn to secrecy. If Doug wants to tell you how its done fine but I cant tell you
-
Thanks Jeremy, a compliment from someone who does work as well as you really means alot
-
I'll guess VH-Guitar.....
DING DING DING A winner!!!!

Holoflash it the name of the finish. Kramer did it originally and you can still get it on Spector Basses. as far as I know there are only about 6-8 people who do this finish and only 3 who do it correctly

These specs are for the MKII Mine is the original 505 Superior IMO
The new one is too processed sounding

edit: Updated Pricing

Holoflash is really hard to photograph

I think LGM has done it you might try asking him or having a moderator post this in the finishing section.

If it's only buzzing when open its the nut. if it buzzes when fretted its the neck/action
