  1. Interesting!!! haha er...I may have overdun that statement slightly. Caught up in the midst of the moment, and I have old strings on the LP but yeah. lol It sounds great, for £150 DIY job, but can;t hold it against the LP.
  2. well its actually a Saga kit, so spec wise I aint too sure. Though on my list are some Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell pickups. Its basswood I think, with a maple top and rosewood fingerboard EDIT: Fixed the links on original post, all pointed to the same image!
  3. I've got a WIP on here but as they are final pics I decided to make a seperate post. I think it turned out pretty good, inexperience played a part, a chip here and there but overall I'm very pleased with how it came together. Not to mention it sounds great. On a par with my gibson les paul. I will try get some sound samples up soon. Anyways here it is.... http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/final2.jpg http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/final3.jpg http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/final4.jpg http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/final5.jpg Thanks for all the advice I got from PG! EDIT: Just noticed that streak on the fingerboard, it's lemon oil in case anyones wondering! Just literally put it on and took the pic
  4. Just about to start clear coating so took some photos of all the bits. Added a name to the headstock as well (the writing is no where near that jaggy in reality i can assure you!) The body & neck http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/guitar7.jpg http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/guitar8.jpg & some new knobs I found http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/guitar10.jpg
  5. got a bit side-tracked since posting the first pics but got back to it yesterday. Cut and finished the headstock, then dyed the neck. Only got one pic atm, a quick assemble with pickups. I am clear coating tomorrow and I will picture each part seperately.
  6. lol thanks hooglebug! Shows how much I know about these things.....
  7. I used a dye, Liberon to be precise. Yeah it did a bit on the top, after 2 days with NitroMors and sandpaper I started to get p-off so didn't finish the top like I should of really, although to me it look almost like a worn almost denim kind of pattern, not bad enough to ruin it. Though i have touched it up with some more dye so the darker pattern is more uniform across the face with the lighter grain detail, looks slightly better. I also went over the rest of the body again, slowly to finish it with some care and I will get a picture in daylight to better represent the colour. Also I have a question about lacquer, my budget restrains me to spray and have read that automotive spray lacquer is suited for guitar finishing. I would use the Halfords brand. Any opinions on that? As far as I know it is cellulose.
  8. After a couple of years with a lone Gibson Les Paul as my entire electric collection I started looking into another guitar. I forget how it happened but going from having the money for a Dan Armstrong, then a Dean Hardtail then like only £150 left and in my travels I had come across PG! Then I found one of the Saga PRS Style kits on ebay for £100 and thought why not. Bit of fun. Got it the other day, been working with the NitroMors and successfully stripped back to bare wood on the body got the maple grain going on... http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/guitar2.jpg Had a bad spot where glue had been used to fill but oh well, its cheap. Found myself some blue wood dye and set about staining the top... http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/guitar3.jpg Up to this point I wasn't expecting anything great as I have never done anything like this before, barely any woodwork at all. So I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. I light sanded the first coat to bring out the grain a bit more then re-dyed the top. Then went on to dye the rest of the body with 2 coats. Here is the body drying with the dye done. http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/guitar4.jpg http://www.wesweatblood.co.uk/guitar5.jpg Im currently cutting the headstock and then will strip the neck and dye that too. I shall have some pictures tomorrow. I think the blue looks great and is very rich and vibrant, should scream at you when i get some lacquer on and buff my heart out! I know its not great but on the cheap I think its not half bad. Feedback would be great! Some of the projects I have seen on here are outstanding!
