  1. has Ed always been like that? just found his site a few months ago, sounded like alot of BS in his 'theories'. maybe its just me?
  2. http://www.guitarbuild.com/modules/mydownl...=titleA&show=10 i dont know if they have a strat, but there are alot of good CAD schematics in there. check it out.
  3. thats cool. do you know any good links to some more diy schematics for pedals and stuff. i know about 2 but it would be nice to have a section with alot of links so people could use it as a database. t
  4. does it really take that much force to drive in a fret?? i figured using a arbor press might crack the neck by putting to much force on a point?
  5. http://www.juststrings.com/lab-800-7.html muahaha. 14/79's. thats heavy for a 7 string. whats this though?
  6. saw someone on hear talk about having 13/65's. and im wondering where they got them from. i LOVE heavy guage strings, heavier the better, and the heaviest i can find in my area are fender jazz strings, which are only 12's. so whats the highest you have seen? do they even make stuff like 15 or 16's? if anyone can throw some links/ advice out it would be great. thx for the help! t
  7. i think he said they were putting it in a oven type machine that added moisture and heat, so when it came out it was like a sheet of wet paper, then put it over the material and vacuum it down. that would still crack it?
  8. i could have sworn they were stretching veneer over curves like this: ?
  9. where is there a 'compound curve' in a carve top LP? are you talking about wrapping venner around the whole thing in one pass?
  10. what are you talking about? the art school i attend has a furniture department and i know alot of guys in it, ive SEEN them use veneer and a vacuum table to put venner over PLYWOOD and it looks kick ass and stays that way for a long time. ive even seen them stretch veneer over complex shapes, complex being 30* angles within a few inches. so........chillout i was giving him a alternative to the 30,000$ setup they use.
  11. anyone know the details of the process? if i have a piece of wood thast been drying for say 10 months thats 12/4 so its not dry yet, can i take it to a kiln and get them to dry it at a faster pace? how long does it take in the kiln? sorry if this is the wrong section

  13. cnc sorry. i hope to use a small one im in the process on making when i carve my body.
  14. same way you would do binding would be the way i would do it.
  15. thx! btw, were you refering to 13* headstock or flat? thx!
  16. so can i run a 4-3 tuner setup with just regular gotoh tuners and no head angle and have no problems????
  17. ahhhh. next question. for visual purposes, id rather cut the neck out of a single block. how thick of wood are we looking at for a neckthru 7 string with a 4x3 tuner setup on a prs style headstock. can anyone give me a rough estimate on whats a safe size? also, ill be using a prs style body too, but ill cut it a little thinner. thanks for all the help! t
  18. gotcha. but why does fender not use an angled headstock? what resistance is keeping it in the slots?
  19. what is the rule on why some are 13 degrees and some are straight? does it have to do with body shape or bridge usage? thanks! t
  20. im not a fan of their prices either. but i do like the cut and the headstock. cool, i figured a few mm in the neck pocket wouldnt need to scale up the body. thanks! t
  21. im looking at making a prs style 7 string, do people usually scale up the overall demensions of the body when going from a 6 string size to 7? or is it so small it really wouldnt be to noticible? thanks. t

  23. http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/7c5d2bb9/bc...hJCkSABMl_cusem how hard was the natural binding to do? looks SWEET!
  24. sorry for the stupid question but what kind of materials can you NOT put over the top of the pickup? (where the magnets arent visible). i know ive seen people use wood on top, and plastic, but what is a bad idea to use? thanks! t
  25. would you mind explaining a little more in depth about intonation and how it relates to the bridge angle? im not following 100% thanks! t
