  1. while we are all taling about carving, would the routing be the best option for a PRS custom 24 top because ive been looking a a load and the bottom of the body (bridge pick ups and under) have a really slight curve. i was thinking of marking out on the veneer how low i would need to go and the sand it down of somthing, and route the horns.

Would this be the best way to go?

  2. correct me if im wrong but i think active pickups are wound much less to reduce the sound, therefore no background sound get in the way, only the string sound does. then a preamp is used so the signal is boosted so it is strong enough to be heard in an amp. a pure signal like this is affected much more with pedals and distortion

  3. try vaseline round it so it doesnt get over the edges

Is this based on any experience, or is it a shot in the dark?

IMO getting vaseline on something you plan to finish is a potential disaster. I don't want to appear rude if this is a tried and tested technique you've used successfully, but it sounds more to me like a guess, and one which could really ruin somebodys week if they actually followed it...

it was just a quick retarded idea that came into my head with no thought into it.

(special tip of the week)it does help repel hair dye from your forehead though

  4. whats everyone think about these things

you can change all the strings completly in 1min 30 seconds. they have specially made strings which as soon as you put them in tune up to near exact pitch with only a quater or less of a turn needed at the bridge if thery arnt.

these things need no tuning pegs either

example on one of thier guitars

  5. its a two way arguement, either you get an transistor amp with loads of distortion (which i think gets lost in the bass frequencys) or a valve which distorts real nicely and has a defined sound

if i were you id go for a jcm800(valve) like many of the metal players use

2nd hand these go quite cheap

  6. hey, im a little stupid when it comes to computers n stuff,

yesterday i downloaded voloview off guitarbuild.com and uploaded a b.c.rich on there as a tester, it came up as a small picture, im just wondering what the hell you can use these for, i would understand if you could print them off life size to make for a template but i still cant get my head around them.

im very stupid so please feel free to slap me with a fish

    ta

    Oli
