  1. basically after looking at matt bellamy's guitars and seeing that he has all the crazy ZVex pedals inside i went to the ZVex website. the guy who makes all the pedals is a seriouslly intelligent guy and has some very cool ideas. my favorites are probablly the three "Probe" pedals he's made

basic idea is to have a big copper plate on the front that is a theremin style aerial (theremins are instruments that are played by moving your hand closer to an aerial, you dont actually have to touch it) and to use this copper pad instead of, say, the foot pedal on a wah.

what i was wondering is if anybody (im looking to ansil here lol) has an easilly designable circuit that could be used as a theremin style volume control

like i said its not strictlly guitar related (unless you godown the mat bellamy route of having the ZVex Wah Probe built into one of your guitars (check the black manson, the copper plate around the lower horn is what im talking about)

many thanks anybody who can help

Inside Matt Bellamy's guitars are unbeleivable, have you tried the fuzz factory yet

  2. hi im not sure if this is in the right place to ask but im looking for a new distorsion pedal.

I need a good quality yet not to expensive one.  Around the region of £50-£70 (srry im english :D) and i want it to give out good powerful sounds.  Im aiming for a kind of "The Darkness" distorsion sound.  I think that would sound perfect.

Ive had a look around and ive been interested in the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone and the Danelectro Paisley Black Liquid Metal.

By the way id like to point out here thaT im NOT a metal freak.  I play all types of music from classical (mainly on my piano :D), to blues, to new age.  I just need a modern distorsion sound like the sounds of the darkness or muse etc...

Also im playin on a US Tele through a marshall 100W amp.

Thanks for your help and if this is in the wrong place feel free to swear at me and delete it.

have you read the review in total guitar

IMO i would o for the danelectro black paisly distortionlike you said youd thought of, it has a added octaver done by switch and would be the way to go to get thick sounds like the darkness or with the octave for muse stuff

the other option would be a valve pedal, unless you have a valve amp already

danelectro black paisly distortion, it has a added octaver

  4. I don't think it's that much harder to build one, so it's really up to you.

Now, constantly -playing- one and keeping it in tune is another story :D

But if that's what you want, go ahead and build it. If you screw it up, I figure you would have screwed up a TOM guitar too. So what the hey, might as well build what you want.

It's a lot of trouble, money, and effort to build a guitar, I only build ones that freakin' rock my world, nothing less will do. It's a lot of effort involved, so why not go for broke and build -exactly- what will drive you insane with happiness?

That's the way I look at it anyway. B)

you could use the speedloader if you wanna stay in tune
