  1. just wondering if percimen wood could be used for a neck or body or something. i have a huge log of it that i could use
  2. aye, i also have a drum sander that collects into a bag, i just stick a ziplock on it, sand, remove and label the bag. very useful. to mix it in i get caps off water bottles, and stuff like that and mix with a toothpick, plus toothpicks make it easier for detail work, like if i were working with different laminates let me know how it comes out
  3. if the crack is only on one type of wood, get some sawdust from that kind of wood (Get a scrap and use some real coarse grit on it), then take the dust, mix with wood glue (Nothing special, it wont have any tension on it) until its kind of pasty. force the mix into the crack and rub around, leave excess on. alow 24 or so hours to dry, then sand smoothe. if the crack is on several types of wood, you might could get creative with different types of dust, but it would be harder. good luck
  4. please dont cry. and if you do, dont tell us about it. that'd just be weird.

  6. aye, after talking to a friend i think i can figure it out. if i get it in but it wont pull back, do i just move the spring holder thing closer to the bridge?

  8. actually, yes i was at a clients office the other day and noticed his amazing desk. i did in fact nocked on it and asked him if it was walnut. it was
  9. hi again i just got a Floyd Rose II floating tremelo bridge that i intend on putting in my explorer, which currently has a standard one way tremelo. does anyone here have diagrams or a tutorial on how to route the cavity for it? im refinishing the guitar, so i can fill the current cavity and route an entire new one if needed. i looked on the post about converting a strat to a FR, but im not sure thats what i need...
  10. when you say 'extra relief', which way do you turn the truss rod for that? (No i havent tried) thanks
  11. gah, still cant fix it ive leveled it like 20 times and have only stopped a few frets. when strummed open it still buzzes like crazy. if i keep sanding, will it eventually stop?
  12. im getting some wicked fret buzz from my explorer on the first 3-5 frets ive replaced the nut, releveled the frets, adjusted the bridge saddle, and cant get it to stop! any suggestions? i have some fretwire and could do refret work, but i dont think it would help thanks in advance

  15. im thinkin about refinishing the explorer, anyone know where i can get a gibson decal for the headstock thats the original shiny silvery color? all i can find is black
  16. aye, thanks all first off: whats monkey magic? second: this ones in good shape, got the the neck gluing. the finish is kinda sad, i think im gonna take the trem bridge out and put in a tune-o, make a few other changes, and refinish it like James Hetfield's, the one thats dark brown stain on the front of the body and black on the headstock/neck and back of the body. also will need a new nut soon. pics soon
  17. ive always loved explorers, and got a good deal on this one so i figured why not im going to the gibson factory in memphis april 15th, ill ask them about the "most guitar bridges back then probably didn't have fully intonatable saddles and semi-adjustable bridge height" thing.
