  1. I put an arm carve and a stomach(?) contour on my Epi LP using a palm sander, which is a lot easier to control imo. I'm sure you could just run it at an angle, although it might be somewhat difficult to keep a bevel that runs around the whole body looking equal.

  2. I started when I was 10, on a enourmous-necked acoustic guitar that had strings 1/2" (ok, maybe a little less...) above the fretboard (it was a Takamine Jasmine). A year later I got my first electric(Epi LP SpecialII), and a year after that I started playing lead in my contemporary church's band. After doing that for a few months I upgraded all of my gear, and now I play too much I think, but I love it. And now (after almost 6 years of playing) whenever I pick my Jasmine I wonder how I made myself stick with it in the beginning. :D

  3. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the extra money for a Carvin through-body neck, or if I should just hope for the best and make my own. I've never made a guitar before, but I'm very experienced working with wood. The one thing I don't want to mess up is the through-body neck, because if I screw it up I can't simply unbolt it. I've figured that the truss rod/fretwire/fingerboard/neck wood etc. will be about $70, and I would no doubt make my own neck if thats all I would need. But I have no tools and seeing as the Stew-Mac Fretting Tool-Kit is $140 (I know they probly throw in some non-essential items to make it cost more) it makes me hesitate. If there is no non-essential items in the toolkit, as I have yet to determine every needed tool, then there is not much of a price difference and there is no question to what I will do... so sorry in advance if I find that it will cost me the same either way. Any thoughts on this would be appretiated..... :D

  4. What I Have-

    The good:

    PRS Santana SE

Kustom Quad100DFX (7 built in effects and 4 preamps)

    The Bad:

Epi LP Special II :D (in the process of refinishing)

Epi Studio 10 DSP that came with Special II

Zoom 505 FX pedal (POS but it was free B) )

    What I Want:

To finish my Special II and get started making my first guitar

Either the BossME50 Multiple FX or just the basic delay, distortion, chorus pedals

I could fill up my post with about 20 other things I want, but I'm happy with my current setup.

  5. The only strings I have been using lately are Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkies. Fat lows, screaming highs... :D ..... The only strings I have used that I can't stand to play is GHS Boomers, or rather most any GHS strings. Just not for me.
