Was looking through ebay the last week & found a mahogany blank for 17 quid, so I though it was about time to try a body from scratch, as all my previous builds had been cut & shut jobs.
Made some templates from another body, but had a bit of an accident when the router depth guide slipped on the neck pocket so had to glue a shim in. Freehanded the body outline, then sanded & finished the depth with a follow bit
Bought a sanding disk for the angle grinder, that saves so much time.
Getting there
Tried some tru oil a a sealer, not grain filled as I want that to show on the next bit

holding a guitar under is quite an effort. The easiest way to clear the paint is use a hair dryer, blows all the paint to the sides of the tank.

The only thing I've ever used is

unibond clear for 3 pyramid necks, use half a tube per neck

Hi guys, quick question I couldn't find the answer to please. Just about to fret my first fingerboards with are 20", what should I bend the fretwire to - 18", 16", does it just need to be slightly tighter than the board?
thanks
Andy

Thanks guys, sanded then glued the necks on the other day. Today made myself a 20" radius block, gotta love the tutorials

Excellent, thanks guys. Was quite surprised how they came off, half hour each.

Hi, quick question please. Just removed a couple of fretboards for the 1st time following the tutorial, I presume I need to sand off all the old glue from the neck before attaching the new board?
thanks

Thanks guys, the gold one I had this crazy idea to try swirling it in size then applying gold leaf to the glue, but the size spread too much on the water so just went for some random distressed effect

Well, hi all, been viewing this site for a year after finding it from Jemsite.com, so thought it was only fair to post some builds that I've done since being inspired by you guys. Builds is the wrong word, but reshaping bodies, necks & painting is probably more like it. As you can prob. guess from the pics I'm stuck in the 80's, but hey I still love neon, but thanks, this forum has been an incredible resource, so this it what I have hacked up in 2007
