I agree. The walnut is quartered and the spanish cedar is close but the af mahogany is goofy with knots and swirls. This first batch is meant to help develop a consistent, repeatable process. So they are really prototypes that will be offered up to friends at cost unless they turn out nice enough to sell.

It's slow going but I decided to put together a small batch of 6 tele style guitars to be placed in local shops on consignment. This design is part Tele, part Jazzmaster with a nod to both in the headstock. Nothing revolutionary but I like it. The idea is to follow the telecaster model. A simple, rock solid, blue collar, go to guitar that may not have the flash but has the substance. Hence the name, the Mule. Ah, but yours can be whatever width you want it to be. I would love to have a wider one but I guess I'll take what I can get.

I scored this for $225 at an auction this weekend. I waited around all damn day for them to get to it so I'm happy I won the bid. Works nice

I bought this old 50's Belfone intercom system at an auction a while back because the receiver had tubes in it. Turns out the tubes are nothing special but when I tore it apart I found a lot of original transistors, a few original paper in oil caps, and six original early 50's two patent CRL 1452 three way switches. I see a decent amount of information on the web that states that Fender used these switches from 1950 to 1953 until switching to the three patent model. The thing that confuses me is that my switches are all missing the spring loaded cover on the one side of the switch. Did CRL make a guitar version of this switch especially for Fender ? Any opinions on whether or not my switches may be worth anything to someone looking to restore a vintage early 50's tele or strat ? I have a local guitar shop that has agreed to allow me to place my guitars in his shop for a 70/30 split. Do you think that 30% is a reasonable cut for him to take ? I think it seems like a lot considering he's not out anything but a spot on the wall. What about a damage agreement ? What if some guy drops my guitar and breaks it ? Anyone out there have any experience consigning their builds at local shops ?
