  1. I am cleaning house, good stuff this week: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZbigdguitars

  3. lol. I wish, don't we all. I buy from Owl Hardwood and lumber. I know the owner, college buddies, so I get a deal on everything. I asked him to get me some 8/4 alder for a couple of months now, he never did and then it just showed up and I had to take it all. I have gone directly to the mill and thier prices are higher... They used to buy 1000 bf of alder at a time I could pick all the good stuff out. Now they don't carry it anymore. So I got what I got type of thing.
  4. thanks for the comments. This was my first mass purchase of wood and its not like I made a whole ton of cash. 200 bf, 1100 outta my pocket. Math makes it about 50 blanks at 25-30 a piece my cost. I lose about 10-20 for knots scrap and lower grade, the rest should be higher grade. Who knows maybe its all crap? I don't know if I will get alder again like this. I know the basswood they carry is much cleaner. Just depends, if I can help pay for the sander then mission accomplished.
  5. yea this wood is ok. Its not perfect grade a alder. Its still relatively nice. When I buy 200bf I have to take what I get. usually when I go pick I can get the rare pieces. here I get what they give me. I just found a 16inch wide piece of paduak that I will be listing soon. The auction ended at 220 so its not like the guy did not get a deal. You will see ten tele blanks soon. -Derek
  6. well for my design its gonna cost me about 3.7 bucks a piece for a 100. thats not so bad. I wonder if I could sell them on ebay?
  7. big fat back with one side slightly shaved. I like to let my hand sit on edge.
  8. Well I finally got the 16 drum sander I need. then this week a timesaver 19 inch comes up on ebay for the same amoung I purchase mine.... I am so so so tempted to buy this. we had a timesaver sander at the shop I used to work and what a great machine. For any of you on ebay use the distance feature you can find a lot of tools really really cheap. Or when shops close a lot of this stuff is going on ebay instead of auctions in the paper.
  9. I am a sheep. I love SRV. I would love to play one of these for a couple of months. Real thing vs a knock off. i am weak, Bragging rights I guess... I know Fuchs makes something close but from what i know in my limited knowledge there aren't a whole ton of exact copies.
  10. Perry sent me this link... I need this like I need a hole in the head... Already laid out my design, now I have to see what 50 cost. Thanks perry http://www.emachineshop.com/material/index.htm
  11. yea but then its not a dumble. There are clones out there but I want the real thing.
  12. ditto on sperzels. easy to install too. Only 6 holding holes need to be drilled.
  13. what I really want to do is take a tele control plate, and instead of having the three way switch I want a pot hole. so I would have three pot holes and I would take the toggle switch to where it is on a lp. I think thats what Jeff Beck had on a tele. I have a customer who wants one that looks like that. I would need one now, and maybe 50 of these for other models and whatnot. Some equipement is so cheap here in chicago, they call us the rust belt for a reason.
  14. I have always wondered how much effort is required to make, lets say a custom tele control plate. What type of machine would I need. where would I get the material? not like I am going to go out and get all of this stuff, but i am interested in seeing what it takes. I have seen a couple of kick presses on ebay in the chicago area and just being curious george. Also any forums some of you guys are on dealing with this let me know. Thansk, derek
  15. http://cgi.ebay.com/Dumble-Winterland-Amp-...1QQcmdZViewItem If I had a million bucks I would buy as many of these that I could....
  16. wow carved top for sure... thats some impressive stuff. There is a piece at my wood shop that is big enough to bookmatch maybe I have to take a second look now.
  17. not a fan of ozzy or zak. That was my first impression and it was not a good one. not what I expected. Funny I loved pantera, I was expecting something else...
  18. matt I want to see that guitar impalled on someones face. Thats so cool. Great job.
  19. if you do a top on the knots you won't see them, I tried to put the knots in other spots other than the bridge neck pocket if you paint it does not matter anyway. I won't sell them one at a time too much time to pack all of them. I hope to get about 250 for them... we shall see...
