  1. My pic is too big but I had to post this. Not done but close... http://www.bigdguitars.com/tele-web/IMG_1618.JPG I brush on so I have some wet sanding to do...
  2. I have thinned it. it sprays ok, its not really that good for spraying, it does not stick all that well. If I sprayed in less than ideal conditions was results not that great. I brush on all my lacquer now and then buy a bottle of deft for the end and thats my last coat. Works ok so far.
  3. even on my pin router I don't want the large bits going, too much unknown for such a large bit, and a small area of wood. Mattia is right carving a neck is really a nice feeling. You can get it just... perfect. With a router bit one wrong move and you have just ruined the neck. With carving you have to be asleep to mess it up really bad. Though I have used a 3/4 bit in my pin router and got decent results...
  4. For what pass? on a round over I usually do 1/2 of the bit size unless its a 1/8 or 1/4 bit. If you are plunging I would go in 1/4 increments less stress on the bit.
  5. Large Pin routers. I have an onsrud pin router that was made in the 50s
  6. how many guitars are you planning on building? Or are you doing other projects in the booth? Why so extravagant?
  7. anyone got one? what does it play like? Made by charvel early 80's? lookin for one -Derek
  8. if a tree falls in the woods does no one hear it? This is bad advice, How many newbs would read this and think they should try it? Yes a pm would suffice, but thats not the route I went, so what. Its been there for a long time. I remember in the advanced thread we were going to clean all this up. Chalk this up to don't believe everything you read... Will post with more thought next time.
  9. nah thats no fun. I want to do it the fender way. I have never seen a 1 piece tutorial. I will have to read the book.
  10. my thoughts are to take a 3/4 neck blank route out the back about 1/2 down 1/4 wide then add a back snunk stripe walnut or something. do the rear route all the way down to the heel. Then work from there? wanted to see if anyone else has done it. I have a real nice piece of maple to use and I will practice on some scrap first
  11. http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/skunkst.htm This is old news but really bad advice.
  12. make your own electric guitar its by Melvyn Hiscock
  13. I think my buddy has that, will have to steal it. Thanks
  14. I kinda know how to do it... I wanna see someone else do it? I searched, I really did, and did not find anything. any help?
  15. i am making a guitar for me my brother its a Flame maple top. going to do a yellow stain. Its been hollowed out, and I am going to do an fhole. just not sure what config I should put in. How are the fender tele humbuckers? I never played with them and there is a couple of sets on fleabay. I have yet to decide on a bridge, so its really all open.
  16. the dudes a pro. What a great looking axe! That should be entered in GOTM

  18. Unreal new tools that have showed up. portable 15 inch planer down drafting table for only 325 new flap sander for 185 they are smokin everone else out.... what a great company. anyone else get it yet? error NEW GRIZZLY CATALOG...
  19. chambered with a nice f holes. carve it too. wicked flame. I spot durawoods...
  20. I am not sure if all of you read Fine wood working, but the last issue they reviewed lee Valley brad point drill bits. They are by far the nicest bits that I have used. Very little walking and I cannot think of a bad thing about them. They are not that pricey and well worth ordering them. I have a ton of cheapo bits, we all do, and you need a good bit in a drill press. I would buy them and use them only for detail work such as neck pockets and bridge mounting. Here is the link: http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=...cat=1,180,42240
  21. they work very very nice. The don't last all that long if you are a little aggressive. still worth the price. better than taking a 60 grit on a spindle sander.
  22. File File File. There is no tool to do what you want, thats a hand job... lol A sharp chisel to clean the corners up.
  23. I think guitar electronics.com has what you are looking for. I made about 4-5 of these and it a time consuming mess... The sound is not all that great and there are only 2-3 sounds that really stand out. out of phase, regular, and parallel eveything else kinda sounds the same.
