  1. Well that just cracked me up.

what we need now is the understanding of not just the guitar but the whole music.

    followed by

now can anyone share me their 'never look back' tab?

You're not going to understand the 'whole music' through tab!

That's the thing that constantly drives me nuts, people want to become great players but not great musicians, ie the drive to seek out tab instead of charts is a clear signal the commitment to becoming a great musician isn't even there. :D

  2. It reminds me of what Howard Stern said one time when they asked him how it felt to be the King Of All Media. His reply was along these lines," we'll I noticed that Elvis declared himself as the King of Rock, everybody believed it, then Michael Jackson claimed he was the King of Pop, so I decided that I would claim to be the King Of All Media, and guess what, everyone believed me too." So, most of the time, a companies product is worth what they decide it is... lol

  3. Ehh, gimmicks are gimmicks, people have to do some pretty strange stuff in an era where we're already numb to everything as it is.

Green Day wasn't a pop band and they sold da soul so hard the pitchfork's still wedged somewhere in the nether regions. :D

Really sad part is they opened for me years ago and the sucked! Then they went and got all rich and famous and crap, now their just suckin in the money. Brutal prostitution! :D

  4. Oh I'd like to play rockabilly, not good enough yet though....

Mostly I sing...play rhythm...though my goal is put together a trio playing aggressivley repetitive minimalist Suicide type dance music...

So you want to be Green Day! :D

    :D

  5. My first thoughts are how the word Virtuoso applies here. Most often the original Italian meaning "skilled, of great worth" puts so many names into the same grouping it seems almost inadequate to use for comparing anyone as there are so many skilled players in today’s world?

An example, an intermediate player on todays standards would have been considered far more of a virtuoso in the 50's than they are now. So is it relative?

  6. Hi...sorry if I may burst any bubbles here...because it uses MM function calls..does not make it macromedia, dreamweaver or otherwise.

MM functions are purely Javascript code..

Yep, I was only referring to the naming convention of MM_ That was the hint to what editor generated the javascript not that the javascript is proprietary to anyone, just the naming convention used was a hint to where it came from. :D

  7. I totally agree Gorecki, you should learn HTML first, or at least have a great understanding of the language. What I was suggesting is that Dreamweaver looks to be better, especially since I'm learning Flash, and I want to incorporate it into the site. Dreamweaver is better suited for that, or at least it appears that way.

Well it certainly sounds to me like you know what you're after (and appropriately so) and I will now shut my pie hole! :D

  8. Yes, just like Gorecki was saying, it definitely looks like Dreamweaver was used.. I need to learn Dreamweaver better myself, as I learned to use Frontpage long ago, and haven't changed. There are a lot of things I could do with Dreamweaver that I'm not sure is possible with Frontpage.

Don't get me wrong Dreamweaver is a better tool than many, especially Frontpage but honestly what will provide you the most is to really learn HTML. At least Dreamweaver is pretty honest on the html it produces but you'll find when having to compensate for all flavors of browsers, platforms and versions, none of them do a fully correct job.

I use an overgrown text editor called EditPlus from editplus.com. It's shareware and WELL worth the price. I use it for every programming language I use (many..way..many). It's only an editor with syntax highlighting but does do some html base operations for you. :D

  9. After looking at the html source it looks like it was either done in Macromedia Dreamweaver (most likely) or Microsoft FrontPage (possible but I don't think so).

I believe it's Dreamweaver more so than FrontPage is because though the in page javascript uses the same function naming convention (everything begins with MM_) but there's no editor tag which FrontPage always plugs in.

In anycase, it's a simple layout, all someone really needs is notepad if they know what they're doing. :D

  10. Ten? What software genius decided that? Its not even 2 to any integer power...

Maybe dig through the code, find the little "10" and put a zero after it.....???

With >5k members, it was bound to happen.

That should be a configuration in the Admin panel, 10's usually just the default. :D

That's what i'd be thinking, too... Having adminstrated a forums, most stuff like this is moddable in the config panel!!

EDIT: Yep, I've just checked... In the Admin panel, go to General Admin --> Configuration and it's under "User and Forum Basic Settings" (Max number of poll options)

    I thought so! :D

  11. I think there are different rules here in the US. I have worked 2 jobs for "free" where I was learning the job so that was my pay. My buddy who runs a shop has three kids come in weekly from a local college to learn about a small business.

I think it maybe just different rules all of that junk.

Ditto. There are plenty of unpaid internships here in the States, many of which are government run. :D

It's true, I get intern's every summer who after they've left I have to clean up their mess. :D

  12. Well, it's a bit late to ask this question as I'm picking it up later tonight, but has anyone got an opinion on the Applause Guitars by Ovation?

Think it's all relative to cost, I'd say they're okay little guys for the money. I have a Ballideer (sp?) I adore but realistically it is not x10 a better guitar than what you've described (thou it's 10x the cost). :D

  13. Guitar Port came out before Toneport. Guitar Port was designed for guitar and Toneport is for guitar, bass, vocals etc. Toneport appears to be the more advanced computer based device intended for recording. Has more connectors ie ins and outs.

I would agree with that, but the GuitarPort has bass sounds in it as well.

I wouldn't say the TonePort is more *advanced* just more I/O options, it acts more as a mini-mixer than the GuitarPort does. Otherwise, if you pop open the box, bet ya dollars to dognuts, the D/A converters and main board are basically the same.

In anycase, I think both are a big step in the evolution of CPU+Guitar interfacing.

  14. That set is very popular and I like it. I use their LiveWire most of the time.

Did you change the pots, or cap...anything else in the chain?

I put in a .047 cap and switched one of my gibson pots to a 500k because i broke a piece off of the original. I am pretty sure gibson had 500K pots for the volume and tone before hand anyways.

I might change the tone pot as well, just in case, since there are no markings on it.

It's very possible that's the difference you're hearing. Even a pot change *can* change the sound, not all pots sweep range are exactly the same and some have minor resistance differences wide open. Between that and the cap is probably what you're hearing. :D
