Look into the breedlove atlas series of guitars.

Not only am I a pedel junkie, Im a change junkie. I have to say George L's cables always keep the noise gone. In my last band I loved to change pedals just before a gig or settings mid song to play with the singers head.

There is a base setup:

Wireless-Tuner-Distortion/Boost-Bad Horsie-Flanger/Chorus-Whammy 1-Delay-JT Pedals V-trem

I also currently am trying to incorporate my Black Box for the filter effects or to find a pedal with comparable filter effects.

The distortion boost can be either:

1 of 2 modded Tube Screamers

a modded DS-1

Z-vex Super Hard On

They will change depending on where I'm playing and what amp.

The flanger/chorus is always changing till i find the magic bullet. Currently its an old DOD chorus or a Dano flanger. Sometimes I use the detune on the whammy for chorus.

The delay has been static since I found the rocktron short timer. I'd like to add a reverse delay also. I had a boss delay pedal with all sorts of settings but it was a pain to keep changing them, and it didnt sound as good as the rocktron.

The V-Trem is the heart of it all. Tube based Vibe or Tremelo. A million settings and they all sound excellent. This pedal is why I'm a pedal junkie.

My vote on the neck is Moses Graphite. I have an aluminum tele that I had the body made by Spruce Hill Guitars and figured graphite was the only choice for necks. I don't regret it at all.

As long as theyre good tuners properly installed there isn't really a best and worst just opionion.

My opion the locking Sperzels.

Breedlove Atlas series. By far the best in that price range. The ones I've played recently compare to thier high end models.

Ive had that guitar for quite awhile and have gigged it pretty heavily. It has hardly a scratch or dent. But Im pretty easy on my instruments.

1. I think the wattage ratings for the rectifier lines quoted are way wong.

A triple rec has 4 6l6 or 4 el84 power tubes. Putting it in at about 100 watts.

The names are designations around how the ac power is turned into dc.

2. Why not get the Mesa V-Twin pedal if its Mesa distortion your after. I used one for quite a while and for all the solos on the songs on the excessive compulsive website.

As far as standard amp modeling choices and Vai's tone, I would think the Soldano models wound be a good starting point.

Dude! Put down the amp!

Running a tube amp(Im making a guess here) with out a speaker load is the fastest way to find out about tube amp repair and power transformers. STOP! Put down the amp until you have a speaker to wire up correctly. Pay attention to matching the impedence untill you understand more about mismatches. If you have questions do a google search there is a lot of info out there.

OOOH and check your amp manual!

I believe the Paduak bodies Nuno used had no finish. They held up through the worst conditions for a guitar, Touring.

Having recently read a good portion of Aspen Pitman's "The Tube Amp Book", my thought would be to try some different 12ax7's in there.

Im pretty sure it has a tube in there. If so the gain of 12ax7's can vary greatly according to Mr Pitman. Being the founder of Groove Tubes, I think he's right.

My take away was that 12ax7's were designed for 100x gain, and in the good old days did that. Toady 80's is average, but from batch to batch can be much lower or much higher. On top of that several other tubes will fit that have different gain structures. Check out the book, or GT's site they may have a lot of the same info.

I finally go the body last week.... grrr 4 to 6 week order becomes 46. And then the guy doesn't drill the output hole or strap button holes. Ill stop my complaning now... (at least here)

Mounted the moses graphite neck and the 3 tele bridges I have dont fit.....

After much research the only tele bridge that fits is the exact american standard bridge with the 3 screws imediatley behind the string holes.

Apparently the fullserve site has gone away so ill need to find a new host and take some pictures...

My whole point was that unless you use studio grade foam most test show ordanary foam stops about as much sound as a bed sheet.

So before you put time and money into it make sure its dense enough to absorb.

I just got Aspen Pittman's The Tube Amp book. There is a whole section on the different 12ax7s and their uses/differences.

One of my next purchases will be a huge variety of these to play with in my amps.

And my wife was worried here getting me the book would just enable me....

has the amp been tested with transformers? I'm interested just dont want to buy a chasis full of problems

id also consider the Seinheiser e609. Its a way cool guitar mike. The songs on my page all the solos were done with that and all the rythm parts done with my 57.

Do some research on sound proofing if thats your goal. Regular foam won't do much for you. Its not dense enough. The cheapest solution we found was old cubicle walls. We got a truck load for free, and lined the entire garage and set up booths and desks.

I have an alley way where I set up my 55 watt mesa and 1x12 cab cranked you can barely here it outside the booth.

Check your phone book for companies that resell used office equipment, they may be able to help you find or buy some.

From what I've read on the gear page and elsewhere get a Digitech Bad Monkey, there $40 new and are very well liked.

The digitech whammys do most of what you describe when set to the 4th/5th modes etc...

At thoose prices they will definitley be worth plugging into. Some of my fav effects are the cheep nasty ones.

Get a tripod.

I do a lot of my guitar and auction pics using a tripod.

Less jitter and more stable.

If its a tough shot, Ill set up a tripod(mine cost $10) and then use the delay timer so my hands do goof up the shot.
