  1. Matamp comes through! They suppl the same stuff that Orange uses! Score. I'll post some pics after i rejuvinate my amp and cab. I have a Johnson Millennium 250 watt head and a matching 412 slant cab. I took the poor guys on tour with no tour cases. So they're a little beat up, but sound GREAT! So I'm-a-gonna replace all the hardware (screws, corners, etc...) and then I'm going to apply herculiner (like Line_X bed liner) to all the surfaces. It should be pretty sweet.
  2. Well, since I've posted, I've gotten a couple reliable leads. I heard that Orange themselves will supply it. ALSO! A guy told me that Matamp (in the UK) sells the stuff (they use it in their cabs) and he says it's the exact precise stuff. He himself uses it to re-grill Orange cabs. Anybody tried either of these?
  3. I know that this isn't a solid body guitar question, HOWEVER, i know that the fine people who lurk about on this board are extremely knowledgable so i thought I'd throw it up. My question is this: I'm going to replace the grill cloth on my 4X12 cab. I know what I want but don't know where to get it. I want to cover the grill in the cloth that Orange uses. http://www.drumcityguitarland.com/guitar_i...4-01-04/007.jpg http://www.vintageamps.com/orange/images/ocab2.jpg http://www.vintageamps.com/orange/images/ocab3.jpg It's almost like a wicker lattice. Anyhow. I know very little about grill cloth, so to be honest, i'm not sure if it's wicker or strech elastic! Any help or direction is well appreciated!
  4. Really. There's no way of knowing. it's probably fake. EVERYBODY has built a strat neck copy. Decals have been reproduced (not to mantion swiped). It's a classic and easy to copy design. I'd say that if it's that abnormal, it's probably a copy. Doesn't mean it's not cool, though!
  5. Yeah. Like a Schecter. Just like the pic that slippery sent. It also looks like the holes are ferruled on each side of the body (back and top). I'll figure out how to do that. But yes. I'd like the pattern of the string-thru-body holes. Thanks for the help. I'll DEFiNATELY be posting photos of the finished product. Thanks again, lads!
  6. I'm thinking about my bridge options on my up-and-coming guitar. I think I've decided on the hard-tail tune-o-matic idea that Schecter uses. I dig the sound and resonance of a hard-tail as well as the tune-o-matic. My questions are these: 1. has anyone seen any particular tonal disadvantages of this setup and 2. Does anybody have mesurements/specs fot the sort-of staggered stringing pattern? Any other input (or questions) about this guitar idea would be great. So far it's going to be a carve-top guitar (my design). It'll be a black limba body and a one-piece black limba top. Maple neck. Pau Ferro fratobard. A coupe of humbuckers. Here's a rough template of my design http://poundfoolishband.com/cameron/1.jpg
  7. What shape/style guitar are you doing? I think you can't go wrong with Pau Ferro. Sweet tone and you can find it with killer grain. You might check out Koa as a body wood. It sounds killer with a 5/4 Pau Ferro neck...but it should be cool too with a zebra/ferro combo. You can get Koa in all kinds of figure. It varies so much in color and pattern (straight...flamed) that you can make a really cool looking axe.
  8. What style electric are you building? And what sound are you going for? EVERYTHING effects tone one way or another. Hardware...glue...jish. Anyhow. One of my FAVORITE wood combos is Korina body, korina neck, maple top, pau ferro fretboard. Sustainy and great on sparkle and beef. But if it's a bolt-on I prefer mahogany to korina.
  9. Well. More like PRS..but a really deep carve. The perimiter of the carve will come JUST below the edge and make a sweet lip! I did steal the butt from the iceman...and most of the rest from McNaught. I've never seen a Korina carve top, though. I love the grain, not to mention tone, of limba. It should grab some attention.
  10. hehe. Well. I won't use 36 inches. i just like extra in case I wana do a headstock veneer or make some pickup rings or make a Frisbee. Or something else. Really, it'll be 22 inches. It's a scaled down pic, but still too big to put here. If you wanna check it out go to: http://poundfoolishband.com/cameron/1.jpg http://poundfoolishband.com/cameron/2.jpg Imagine it as a one-piece Korina carve top! Bitchin'!
  11. Thanks Dave! Gallery has some cool stuff. Hopefully they can sut me a thick slab. Anyone wanna see the template for my project?
  12. Well. I'm doing a one-of-a-kind carve-top. The shape is a McNaught kind of thing with a couple personal spins on it. It'll all be hand-carved so I need a big 'ol chunk for carving sake. It's gonna be bitchin' when it's finished.
  13. I'm in southern California. I'm willing to ship, though. Just a big chunk of Black Limba is tough to get my hands on. I wouldn't mind doing a 2-piece body. So a couple of boards, like, 7 wide X 36 long X 3 deep. I know it MUST be out there.
  14. I'm a bit confused, Phil. Acoustic or electric?
  15. I need some help finding the wood for my next guitar. I'm doing a solid black limba (black korina) carve top. I just need a board to make it out of! Any ideas? Thanks.
  16. Hey, Phil. I used to work for Suhr Guitars. While I was there we built a guitar with a solid BRW neck. It looked SWEET, but sounded, well, bad. It's great for acoustics and fingerboards...but for a neck, especially neck/thru, I'd say that it ain't worth the expense. If want a cool looking, super strong and bitchin' sounding neck, try pau ferro. Sweet tone and really stable (also called Ironwood).
