  1. Yea I understand about the free thing......doesn't hurt to ask. I will check out the site you recommended.

I'd get a drum machine any half decent one comes packed with loops which you can alter them then when you get the hang of it you can build your own. and its far more fun than playing with your mouse

  2. i agree, i use 11.13mm string spacing and even thats pushing it; for me 15mm is too large

i did the same method erik did for my multi scale, which was build a wooden bridge that held the saddles, it was the more logical solution given my options

    Kenny

Why not make individual bridge plates for each wilkinsons saddle neil?

  3. Avengers is actually right. the best flutes are sterling silver, or sometimes platinum. I have never heard a solid gold flute (they do exist they apparently have quite a warm tone) but I've played a few gold plated silver ones.

Your typical everyday flute would be nickel silver.

Silver is a wee bit harder than gold by the way.

Why is everyone forgetting that steel is incredibly resonant? Tuning forks anyone? My bike frame has a lovely ringing tone!

  4. I think you can copyright it as the name of a guitar, if I understood correctly. The Schecter's 25.5, and this will be too.

It's not really a v, except that it has two legs. It looks like this Guitar.jpg

This will be my first guitar, so I would like to build everything, but I'm not very confident I'm my ability to cut the fret slots accurately. I may go with a pre-made fretboard, but maybe not. Definitely 24 frets though. What is a "tenon"? I looked at the Warmoth V, the joint doesn't look very strong, but I guess it is. For a first guitar, I probably won't go neck through, just because I would probably screw up the neck angle. I won't put the schecter neck on permanently, but I may bolt it on for a few minutes out of impatience, because I want to play it or something. What you were saying about adding more frets, wouldn't they get ridiculously small?

How on earth are you planning on using the middle two tuners?

Can I make a suggestion? do a bit of reading not knowing what a tenon is kinda shows you might need to learn a bit. And then do a bit of reading on how to plan the guitar full size because unless I'm missing something that headstock is going to give you some serious tuning difficulties. and then stop and think and go over everything again. and then practicing on some scraps.

    THEN start building

having said that I'm not great at following my own advice!

This is pretty much the current bible....

    ... there are others :D

  5. I already voted boggs.

AndyT got my vote just for the finish.

Kenny I liked yours alot and would have voted but n the end I tossed a coin :D

    Boggs read above.

Low end fuzz. sorry but its far to all over the place but specifically I don't like the tacked on bits on the control cavity cover (if ever there was a case for black plastic!) I have no doubt it plays better than anything I've yet to produce!

swedish luthier. same issue as I think wez had about the the shoulder looking slightly odd. but it is very classy

KPcrash Ugly?! I think not, thats my kinda bass plain and simple with huge pickups :D

  6. I understand the concept of scale length. No, I'm not talking about adding wood onto the end of the fretboard. I'm talking about adding a 6" x 2.4" x 1.68" piece onto the very end of the carvin neck-thru neck. So the bridge would be put onto that piece, and saddles to nut I'd have 38". I was talking about just glueing it on flat, didn't think of making a joint there.

I just really like the neck-thru design so I'd prefer that over a bolt on, and I'm gonna do a few of these before I attempt a glued in set neck.

thanks for recomending the scarf joint. I looked it up in "Martrin Koch, building electric guitars" and he does it a few different ways. I'm just starting to collect my tools now, what would you say is the best way to make a scarf joint?

why not justtreat the trhough neck as a very very long neck tennon? any way even if you do what you are suggesting are you not going to have a very short fingerboard?

And why 38? I don't think I could even play that with my tiny arms!
