  1. So, this it what I've been doing at work for two days now. It's gonna be an Ibanez RG style, three piece body, and a Les Paul style bridge with two humbuckers. 22-24 frets, don't know yet. I don't even know if I dare to start building the neck from scratch as well. Body (two pieces of birch and one piece of cherry): With my Jem neck attached to: AANJ:
  2. Yeah, I painted the guitar white. Except the trem cavity, which I painted black. I used gloss Revell oil paints (those small cans) and dipped the guitar in black and white. Haven't clearcoated this one yet.
  3. Thank you! Today I started clearcoating the body. I didn't use anything to remove the water drops, so some of them became small dark points. But it doesn't matter. The surface of the paint was quite even. No big paint droppings in there. I hope it'll turn up nice looking and hoping I won't screw up the clear coating =) I guess 5-7 coats will be enough? No idea. This is my first real guitar swirl and first time for clear coating..
  4. Is it good or bad? I want more bodies to experiment with multiple colors! =)
  5. I guess this deserves a thread of it's own Sorry for bad pics. Those were taken right after dipping and there's still some water drops in there. Quite happy with the result. In some pics you may see a test body shape I dipped in before. What do you think? Two paint drops there but not so bad, I guess.
  6. Thank you! I'm starting to like the guitar more and more every day. There's many imperfections in the colouring, but I like the "firestorm" look.
  7. Here are the pics (click to enlarge). It's an Ibanez RG550EX, chrome hardware (Lo-Pro Edge), mirror pickguard and a superwizard neck. I scalloped frets 21-24 á la Jem, sanded the body and headstock, showed some heatgun to the wood and stained them with chili -coloured stain. The surface of the body is matte. Opinions?
  8. From ebay. Cannot remember the name of the store, though =(
  9. Heh, sorry about the lack of info. Well, the silver one's just an assembly of a Jem 7VWH neck, RG550EXSD body, and so on... The brownish one used to be an RG470 body and the neck's from the RG550EXSD. Sanded down everything, routed the trem cavity a bit to fit the Ibanez Edge in there. I put mahogany stain on the body and headstock and a white decal. Wish I'd done these from scracth, but with two left hands it's quite difficult =) Ja sama suomeksi.. =)
  10. Here they are (Not the one in the middle): More pics of the brownish one here: http://ameba.lpt.fi/~vilkmati/Sontaa/Uusi/ And more pics of the silver "Jem" here: http://ameba.lpt.fi/~vilkmati/Sontaa/Uusi_2/ Comments are welcome!
