  1. hi, i just found this picture. wes borland (ex-limp bizkit) is building his own guitars, too!!!
  2. hi, could anyone tell me, what the width at the 1st, 12th, and 21st fret at a seven string ibanez is?!? thanx, helge
  3. thank you for the quick reply. how do you like your mustang?? actually i need all measurements. i want to do the blank first though, so i needed the thickness first. do you know if the cyclone has the same body contours???
  4. hi, does anyone of you own a fender mustang??? i need to know how thick it is. thanks. helge
  5. i pay 8€ for an alder and 13€ for mahogany blank. but i have to do all the preperation my self. takes some time, but saves money.
  6. 8 string sound interesting, too, but a little to strange for me. i'll go with a 7 string first and then maybe sometime in the future a 8 string. and there is no reason for the neckjoint. havent thought about it. but i'll give it away anyway. i dont like the wood too much. i have a lot of nicer blanks here. and i cant use this one, because i dont want a shaping on the top, because i dont want a really thick maple top. and i looks stupid, when you can see the mahogany because of the shaping and with no shaping i can do a nice natural binding. do you have templates for 7 string humbuckers???
  7. actually this one was just a test. i'll finish the pickup and tremolorouting and the electricstuff routing from the back and then i will give it to a friend. i want to build a seven string for myself. usually i dont like the ibanez style that much, but in my opinion a seven string has to be an ibanez. i want a mahogany back, flamed maple top, binding on top, no floyd rose and no pickguard. the neck will be a 3 piece neck. maple and i'm not sure which kind of dark wood. does anyone has any advices!?!
  8. i did the shaping and some of the pickup routing this afternoon. here's a picture of it. the shaping isn't perfect yet though.
  9. OK, sorry, i'll change it later.
  10. hi, on this side you will find schematics for all current fender guitars. on the first page you will find a "drawing" of the guitarfront and back. if you zoom to 405% it must be about the right size. then print it out and check it by the measurements of the pickups or if you want to do it really exact take the distances between the zero fret and the 21. fret. then you have a perfect template. http://www.mrgearhead.net/faq/diagrams.php that is how i did mine. i'm not sure if its the right size though.
  11. hi, funny idea. i pay 8€ for an alder and 13€ for a mahogany blank. i get the wood unfinished (picture) and then do all the work and gluing myself. takes some time, but saves money, too!!! if you are from germany let me know and maybe i can send you some wood someday for your next solid body project. :-)
  12. here's a picture of one of the guitars i build before. i messed this one up, when i glued the top on. but it was just a test anyway. the wood isn't nice either. the upper horn isn't finished as you can see. the carving, the lower horn and f holes are pretty good in my opinion.
  13. Hi, started a new project two nights ago. i found these great blueprint of the JEM777 and then i just had to start building. i dont like the monkeygrip, so i won't do that. i won't be at home for the next 10 days or so, so ich wont be able to do more work. it's 3 pieces of sapeli mahagony. what do you think so far???
  14. Hi, first of all, i would like to say hello to everybody. this seems to be a good forum and cool, telented users, too!!! my name is helge, and i'm from germany. I've build a couple of telecaster, sg und PRS bodies, but always sold them, because they weren't good enough in my opinion or i just needed money!! :-) right now i'm wokring on a tele thinline, swamp ash body with flamed maple top and a PRS hollowbody I with mahagony sides and flamed maple top and bottom. well, my question right now is a little bit off-topic, but maybe some of you might be able to help me. I'm planning on bulding a mesa boogie cabinet and now i need the measurements. i want to build a 4x12". would be great if someone could take these, if you own one of these cabinets. bye, helge
