Hello there, I'm building a 25.5 scale length, 22 fret stratocaster style guitar. Its my first true guitar that I'm trying to build. I just have a few basic questions mostly about the neck, and the main one I have is how long is the headstock normally from the nut and what is the basic spacing for the strings? Does the width at the end have to be a specific measurement or can it be any measurement (within reason) because for the template I drew, I had a length of 2 1/8.

what about the headstock? Whats the best way to make sure you have an accurate measurement? and is it best to go flat or angled?

Hi there! I'm building my first guitar finally and so far I've got my neck template done for 22 frets for a bolt on neck with a scale length of 25 1/2 in. and the nut width at i believe 1 5/8 in. but I am having problems figuring out I should make it so that the strings are correct length. I'd like it so that i have six in a line but I just don't know what I need to do. Second thing is I'm building a stratocaster type body from scratch on ash, but the problem I have is that i don't have anything to trace it from, and I'd like this to be as well done as possible so it is evenly balanced. How can I calculate the arcs for this body?

The bass is technically for me, I am just part of the high school jazz band and I'd like to make it a good jazz bass then probably make an electric bass thats mostly designed for other uses, but I just needed to know what would be sufficient string spacing from string to string, and really what the bottom 24th fret measurement should be to fit onto the body.

Hi everyone! I'm planning on building a 5 string full 24 fret bass guitar, bolt on neck and the questions I had were if I went with a scale length of 34 in. how would I have to design the neck and how far apart should the strings be apart to fit onto the neck? The bass will be mostly used for a high school jazz band so I was just wondering what my measurement be at the top nut all the way down to the 24th fret and I am just not too certain on the body measurements...If anybody could help me it would be much appreciated! I'll probably post pictures of my progress and accept any tips that anyone can offer because I am new to this.

Hello to everyone, I'm interested in making guitars and have been for a while and right now I'm helping my girlfriend's father cut some trees down and there is a good bit of maple trees. I'm just wondering whats the difference if i make the neck out of the maple tree as i cut on my own, as compared to purchasing the wood? Would it be easier to just use the tree we cut down? I'm also confused on building the neck itself. I don't understand when it means laminate, and I'm not sure if the headstock is included, and how exactly do i hide the truss rod? Just with another piece of dark wook like the fretboard color of ebony which I'm going for? I do have some basic wood working skills its just that I'm confused on the neck with putting it together into something i can actually comprehend to understand. If you could please help me out it would be much apreciated and I would be very grateful. p.s. I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum because I'm a noob
