When the drums came it, it kind of reminded me of a A Perfect Circle song (off their second album), which is cool. Definitely gets going right at around 1:27, and from then on its pretty damn good, haha.

No, the demo video someone posted round here a while back was ridiculously bad, the thing wouldn't stay in tune, was laughable.

Most of his philosophies are ridiculous unscientific crap at best.

I was just pissed of reading all the crap he wrote on the site...and how if you're a doctor/lawyer you don't deserve his guitars...Or if you've got any physical disabilities....or if you don't prefer a tube amp.

Just watched some video of a guy playing pretty much the same thing for like 6 minutes...with some very crappy use of the trem

Wow I just checked out that site. That has to be the ugliest headstock I have ever seen. Not to mention the guy is a total ass. One of his ugly headstock guitars is not worthy of hanging on my wall. (let alone it wont hang). Or sitting in the street if front of my house. (I live on a highway). I have a disabilty,(kinda deaf from standing in front of my Marshall too much, not kidding) so what, I can play pretty good, and I wouldn't have one of those things if you paid me to take it. (Rant off)

I got it straight from the guys at DiMarzio. According to them. there is NO difference with regards to what side the pole pieces ar aside from the fact that one side is adjustable (on some models) and the other is not. The tech I spoke to basically said that the sound is identical regardless of the installation.

I thought the coils where different...that one of them was just mainly for cancelling hum, and the other one for picking up the vibrations -and that that was the reason for that coil having adjustable pole pieces...

I'm kind of interested in the 2-4 split idea...does putting the tuners for those strings there make a big difference (for a 25.5 scale neck that is)?

wouldn't at least one tuner be geared the wrong way though (either buying 6-in-line or 3x3).

tried turning that neck p/u around 180 degrees?

How about making a mold, and injecting some kind of liquidy plastic material into it( like melted plastic in a tool) something like a glue gun kinda thing, then it hardens in the mold, that might work?

maybe do unusual body styles...wierd vintage stuff etc...that no-one else makes.

This seems to be a dream of yours and something you really seem to wanna get into... But just don't let that blind your judgement. We all want things but sometimes you can get a bit carried away and won't realize what's really possible. If you really believe this will work out realistically...then by all means just go for it. But bear in mind that these people telling you not to, would probably all want you to succeed but are just giving you the facts...If you want to listen to them or not is up to you.

That is ALL done with spray cans? Incredible! And the binding came out so clean, much better than my first pinstriping experience. What was your method to get the paint so well, just patience? How many cans did you end up going through?

Yep, all cans. I'm using cheap car repair spray cans from one of the biggest chain of stores for that stuff in Sweden. This paint is actually not that great, the reason I'm using it is that you can choose between a lot of different shades of colour. I have now been told about a company that fills spray cans with any car colour you want, I'm going to check that out. Higher quality on those, I'm sure.

I sprayed the clearcoat from the same brand of paint as a primer, sanded that even, and then sprayed the red. I figured it was safer to use the same type of paint so there wouldn't be any weird reactions between paint layers. I have sanded the red now and will start clearcoating the whole thing with cellulose laquer spray cans this weekend (I hope...).

I painted it in two steps. First I did the back, so I masked the top and binding and sprayed everything else.

After that, I took the masking off and masked everything but the top. I didn't put any tape on the binding on the top, just on the sides. I figured it would be easier to scrape the binding clean afterwards than to try and mask that thin top edge nicely. It worked fine. I think I used 2 1/2 cans of paint because it doesn't cover too well. If I had used paint that covers better, I might have needed only 1 to 1 1/2 cans.

I can't wait to get started now that I've got proper tools.....

That looks cool! Caparison headstock? Is the neck/fretboard going to be set that far into the body, how many frets are you going to have?

Actually I just copy/pasted the neck from an illustrator drawing I did of IA's caparison signature...Just couldn't be bothered drawing another neck... ..

It's probably gonna be a 3x3 headstock or 4x2.... and a 24 fret neck.

Yeah definately...I love his stuff, it's amazing, unique and stylish.. and I like the body shape a lot...so instead of "tweaking" a les paul or a strat. I had that in mind and then tweaked the curves to how I liked them.

That was just a quick thing I made in AI...I might still end up doing an explorer shape...

Ordered some parts from Guitarfetish just to get started on something new (still waiting for an opportunity to put a finish on my first project...wich I play on every day now).

This is the basic hardware (and what I'm planning on doing).

One push/pull pot for tone and phase switching (don't know if it's possible but it was just an idea I had, anyone know if I can achieve this)

The rail pickup is a GFS.

White overwound humbucker.

not shure about the bodyshape yet....but the neck will probably have tree of life inlay.

A thing that struck me while writing this was if I could coil-tap the rail humbucker by adding another push/pull pot instead of the regular one. Any electronics-wizards out there??
