Yeah, they are pre-selling right now to be delivered in December. It's a fantastic product idea, but it makes me nervous when the sales people aren't even sure what it will fit, all they are sure of is that it's supposed to fit a strat. I contacted one of their install centers who seem very nice and they don't have any idea either. And then of course add your experience. It's a real bummer because it would be an amazing learning tool coupled with the software.

It's amazing how many bodies on ebay have no dimensions at all. And your right about working a ruler, a seller emailed me a few days ago with a neck pocket dimension of 2-11/26". Some of them never even bother to email back. I emailed Fretlight and let them know that 2-3/16" would fit a ton of bodies and that a picture with accurate dimensions, scale, number of frets etc. would make it a lot easier to actually sell. I'll see if they get back to me today.

I was looking at strat style because a cable from the neck runs through the body to a plug. I'm pretty good with metal but suck at wood, I was trying to glue two pieces of a broken drawer back together today and it turned into a debacle. Would like to pick up something already routed and ready to go. Maybe try a fabric finish like the one in the tutorials. I've never even assembled a guitar before so it would make for a nice beginner project. And I have lots of practice painting and masking engine blocks along with plenty of circuit board soldering practice. Fretlight emailed and it seems there is some confusion over the actual neck versus the photo dimensions. Think I'm going to email one of their installers to see if I can learn more.

Does anyone know which strat style w/pickguard guitar bodies use a 2-1/8" x 3-1/8" x 3/4" neck neck pocket? I'd like to save some money and put together my own Fretlight guitar but I'm having a very hard time finding a body with a neck pocket that will fit it. Pictures and dimensions here. http://www.optekmusic.com/productspage.htm There are quite a few complete Ibanez grx's minus neck flying around but they use a 56mm pocket. All the strat stuff I've been finding has been 2-3/16". I'm new to assembling guitars so any input/help would be great. Thanks, Rob
