  1. Thanks for the pics.  Very nice carver, but out of my reach at least for another 6-7 months. Good luck with the bidding.

well first round nobody bought... like 250 views, 15 people watching, nobody bid... re-listed, ends now in 5 hours, 6 people watching.. i would have snapped this up at the time i bought for the price. i dont understand, unless nobody wants one of these things.. if it doesnt sell it goes off to storage.. will try again in a few months.

  2. i used regular slinkys for years on floyd guitars.. no problem. elixir's are the best out there, best being an opinion, but i've been playing 26 years, and they are outstanding, sound like a good broken in set of strings months after i put them on. I had one set on a guitar for 6 months, only removed because i wanted to oil the board as it was getting kinda dry.

different brands are easier to bend than others, even at the same gauge. back in 92 i was told there were only 3 manufacturers of strings in the world, probably changed by now but thats something to think about :D

  3. most likely what has happened is the wood shrunk, and the barbs and ends are sticking out, as metal wont shrink.

couple ways to fix this... get some sandpaper and a block, this will work, most likely will chew through some paper though. If you go the file route, you would just hold it against the side, and go back and forth till they are gone, then you can go back over it with fine 400-800 and above (whatever works for you) sand paper to clean them up and get rid of any file marks. I just use a regular flat file, about 6 inches long.

to keep this from happening again, you can watch the humidity levels in your room, my case the basement. In the winter (ohio) i have to run a humidifier, summer de-humidifier. keep the level normal, and it wont happen.

  4. Where can you buy it other than stewmac?

I need to buy some asap and don't have an order for stewmac yet, assuming that you can buy at somewhere else...

anyone tell me where they have seen it at?

    Thanks,

    Derek

meijer or anywhere else that sells tape you can get what they called carpet tape.. used for sticking down rugs, it's the exact same thing but cheaper.
