  1. well your going to have to router out some new pickup cavitys for the new pickups to fit If you going to put 7-string pickups in and you will need new mounting rings if you use them. You should put a new neck on since a 7-string bridge is wider than normal and simplely working on the nut may not work but iam not sure on that one :D If you do change the neck you will need to router out a wider neck pocket.

  2. hey Iam working on an offset flying-V and iam thinking of doing somthing new with my electronics and I found the BLACK ICE mini passive guitar overdrive and Iam woundering how it works what are the pros and cons of this system. the pickup iam going to use puts out 20K ohms so its a hot one what will this do for system and with it replacing the tone capacitor will my tone still function the same way or not dumb question maybe but I don't know much about electronics.

    Thanks

  3. YES! It has the exact same shimmer as you turn it from left to right! The only difference is that the color ranges from orangish-red to dried-blood-red, instead of yellow to gold. (Well... color-wise. It's wood, not stone, so it's also easier to cut.So how big is this piece, and how much did it set you back)

well I cut the piece in two parts and glued them so I ended up with a with of about

26in wide 29in long at 2in think after surffice sanding It set me back about

37.00 bucks not bad B) . I will be useing it to build an offset flying-V so I need the width the only down side is there will be alot of waist but I should find some use for it a friend of mine who owns the shop I work in make's handmade smokeing pipes with my left overs I think it's a fare trade he gets my waist I get full use of his shop any time day or night :D

  4. Yo Matt, That guitar is F'in awesome. I like the design alot. you have a good eye for a wicked metal guitar. it looks so mean. Puts Dimes to shame IMO. what program you use to make this picture? Sweet Axe man.

Thanks man it means alot to me when I hear stuf like that any way I used my paint

program I took a pic I found of another guitar online that had the right wood type at the time that I was thinking of using and then copy cut and paste In to the close shape and then I whent from there not to hard and it helps me with the designs.

it maks them feal a bit more real in my mind.

Anyway, pickups are also a critical choice when it comes to having a great sounding guitar so maybe it all depends on what you're planning on using.

thanks well Iam hopeing to use an EMG 81-7-string pickup or make my own overwound and have it pushing out [20k-ohms]Iam not sure if i said that right

any way I have one now and I love it :D

  5. With the right finish on the right piece of Padauk, it can develop shiny bands in the wood grain... sort of like the shimmer in "fiddleback"... but it runs with the grain instead of across the grain. (I have only used tung oil, which usually enhances these types of grain-effects.)

That is exalty what mine is like I have never seen figering Like this Its like the stone tigerseye if you know what that looks like :D its hard to explain If I

can get some pics I will show it to you thanks for the info

  6. :D

    Wow....that carrieburst rules Matt!

I know Ive yet to see anything as wild as some of the coloers JET uses :D

not to be vain- but even if you dont like my design the top is without a doubt, killer. no stains there- only boiled linseed oil, tung oil and poly

No its not vain and I love that design Ive been thinking about useing boiled linseed oil, tung oil and poly since Ive had such a hard time with nitro and filling pores in my woods if You could share some info or tips It would help thanks B)

  7. Due to the limits of my resources and experience, I decided to build the body out of a face and a back... but that has now expanded to include a third layer of wood. By running the grain of this mid-layer piece in a different direction than the other two pieces, I will gain more strength and reduce the possibility of the body warping. Here's a side view of the design.

I don't think it shows a lack of resources and experience to build the body out of a face and a back I like doing my guitars like that. Any way It looks good I cant wait to see more pics B)
