  1. Hi guys i just moved to the UK from Venezuela, i couldn't bring any of my guitars :D and guitars here are insanely expensive, not to mention that to find a quality instrument is hard as hell, so , i was thinking about building my own here, can anyone tell me where could i buy wood? I'm in London, well right now in Osterley/Hounslow, but will move to Finsbury park next week, and where could i get the wood cut? back in Venezuela i always went to wood shops and the guys did the cutting for me, but as i don't know anything here...if anyone can help i'd appreciate it, thanks in advance! :D

  2. I think that it will work just fine, since the PPG cures fast and is probably cured by now.  Is like using the createx waterbased colors for base then clearing with spray paint.  But since it is started in PPG, why don't you do the other colors with createx autoair colors, and have and auto shop top it with PPG or any other poly over in the UK. The finish will be superior than nitro.

there's a guy who posts on the moser custom shop, located in england, kinda near where i'll be living, he does all kinds of works for guitars and helmets, stuff like that, he uses createx autoair colors, so i hope it'll work, thanks Maiden :D

  3. i'll be in Osterley, near London :D and i have to go to Birmingham!! Black Sabbath's from there! :D right now i think i can give the camo warlock the camo pattern and maybe one clear coat, perhaps at a bike shop they could shoot the rest of the coats, more or less what's the stimate for this kind of job?

  4. anybody knows of someone who can do a guitar paint job? I'll be moving to the UK on wednesday, probably, i won't have my guitars finished :D I have a warlock and a flying V, both built by myself, and both guitars have the basecoat colors, which is ; gray on the warlock for an urban camo paint job, and black on the Flying V, for a green hot rod flames graphic, I'll be living in the London area, but if you know of someone reliable and with good prices let me know. color coats aon both guitars are automotive polyurethane, on the Warlock is PPG and on the Flying V is Du Pont Chroma Base, thanks in advance :D

  5. The new BC Rich NJ's have mahogany bodies and ebony fretboards, agathis is only used on the lowest quality guitars. I think that BC Rich imports are a damn fine bang for the buck,a nd judging BC Riches from imports is stupid, they were the best guitars out there for a while, they are all carefully handmade with the best woods available, right now, I feel that BC Rich is dead, which i think is very sad, cuz I love their designs, but that's why we have Moser Custom shop :D anyways, i can understand you don't dig the shapes, they're not for everybody, but do yourself a favor and play a USA made neck thru Bc Rich, any model you want, or even better, a vintage 70's or 80's bc rich

  6. Hi guys, I 'm moving to the UK soon, I have this warlock I built that some dude was painting for me, unfortunatly, the guy is a bum and don't think he'd have it done for monday, the guitar will be gray camo or urban camo, like Max Cavalera's. It's already gotten the primer and the base gray color, he used PPG automotive polyurethane, so i was wondering if i can finish the guitar with rattlecans? the camo pattern is not so much of a big deal as is the clear coat, but any and all suggestions are very welcome, thanks in advance

  7. sorry man, i can't help ya pout here, jé né parle françoise :D but in english i can help you as much as i can, and as far as i know, there's no need for a neck angle with a tele, if you're using a tele bridge, are you gonna have a headstock angle? or are you gonna leave it flat just like a regular tele? your project looks great man, that padouk is really beautiful :D

  8. Nope, Floyd Rose or no floy rose, the wood type is one of the most importants if not the most important thing to the tone and character of a guitar. I have heard since you need to route a lot to accomodate a Floyd Rose , that out lose out some frequencies on the bottom end.

Maple would make your guitar brighter, with the pickups you mentioned, you might want to use alder or mahogany, and if you think that's Neal Moser's most difficult design to build, you should check the Morpheus put :D good luck man! :D

  9. I totally agree with Maiden. I had this crappy Bronze series warlock, and i bought a Seymour Duncan distortion for it, thinking it'd sound better, boy was i WRONG!! it still sounded horrible, I knew very little about guitars, however i did know how much a new body will make it sound , so i went out and bought a bunch of mahogany and made a new body for it, it gained new life, and i even went as far to glue the neck down the body, it became instantly my main guitar here's there pìc

  10. Hmmm, Curtis, no disrespect meant to you by this...but who said Oak isn't a tone wood? if basswood is a tonewood, then even agathis is a tone wood, :D anyways, Neal Moser has used oak for necks and bodies, so it might not be a common wood for guitar making, but sure it can be used, same as cherry and walnut :D

  11. Those guitars are jaw dropping! congrats, they're gorgeous, both of them, I didn't think it'd be possible to build guitars in the UK( because of humidity and all, i dunno i'm weird), i assume you own all tools and all, I tell you, i live in Venezuela , where mahogany is supossed to grow! and i have never seen such beautiful pieces, when it still could be found here we got decent mahogany, but never such exquisite pieces :D
