  1. I had the same idea a few months ago. I think it would be better to not paint the insides black and to just leave it natural, especially since if you play it, the inside of the F holes will look pretty dark non the less. I think those fake f-holes on that ibanez and other guitars are tacky. You gotta have the real thing.

  2. I'm making one out of pvc pipe. Don't know how it will turn out, but I'm hoping it does work.

I really like that idea of that guy's wine rack shelf for his guitars.

There is one guy who custom built his own guitar out of metal and sold it on ebay. I believe he had a tune-o-matic, but still routed a tremolo cavity in the back where he added a few pieces of metal so it could stand up on its own. Really cool.

If you don't want to make one then I suggest buying a Quik-Lok 7-slot universal multiple guitar stand. It can hold any guitar. I'm not sure if they can hold double neck guitars though. I emailed them and asked but they haven't replied. That was last year.

  3. I took it upon myself to draw a schematic of how the teisco is currently wired. It looks like a bomb. I'm going to spend some time looking at schematics, and draw up a new schematic. I'll post it here and see what you guys think if it's correct or not since I am learning. Surprisingly the 2 way switch is different from Fender, as Fenders have 6 lugs and this one has 3. If this is correct then I'm going to shoot myself, but I believe 99.9% that the way it's wired now is wrong.

  4. Anyone try a Raven West guitar? They look like they're part of the same story as Sanatoga and Jay Turser. The reason why I ask is because of this guitar

I've only seen Godin make nylon acoustic electrics look like electrics, along with one or two Yamahas and I believe Gibson had one with Chet Atkins. Some of their guitars look too good to be true.

  5. I got an old teisco here that I want to rewire. The guy who had this guitar last installed a humbucker in between the two single coils and didn't add its own switch or knobs, so basically it's controlled through the singles (if that makes sense). The wiring is also very butchered.

I'm no wiring expert but as you can see there looks to be speaker wire being used, a few wires with different gauges, one unshielded wire, and a car wreck of wires being crumbled together and maybe even blended together. It just doesn't look right to me and if it wasn't, I'd still want to do this as a nice project. Here's a picture of the wiring job.

    Questions:

The pots say 8500k ohm (I'm guessing just 500k right? lol)

The orange cap says 503M R50 (little help here?)

Basically I am going to leave the humbucker for decoration only. It won't be wired. The reason why is because it's left its mark with the faded pickguard gloss and drilled hole for the wire. I would need something to cover the tip of the wire on the humbucker I'm assuming so it doesn't touch other wires or solder and what not. Maybe electrical tape?

    Does anyone know where I could find a schematic to redo this guitar? If someone could draw me up a schematic that would be even more amazing and I'd appreciate it very much. If you can't figure it out with the picture, then here is what I gather;

2 fender jazzmaster style switches (3 polepieces)

2 single coils (3 wires each)

    2 tones (3 polepieces)

    1 volume (3 pole pieces)

1 mono jack similar to this 4652

    Thanks.

  6. How was the book by Tino Zottola? I was thinking of buying his books

Vacuum Tube Guitar and Bass Amplifier Theory

Building Tube Guitar Amplifiers Book (Vol 1)

Building Tube Guitar Amplifiers Book (Vol 2)

Vacuum Tube Guitar and Bass Amplifier Repair

  7. You mean... kinda like Lars' kit on St. Anger?

Damn right. I haven't listened to that album, but I did like the single St. Anger, but man do those Diezel amps sound terrible along with that drum kit. That diezel sounded like a bad Solando.

The best thing about being 15 is you have the right to be crap lol.

  8. The singer doesn't need to be more metal, he needs to be better overall. Singing and playing guitar is tricky, which is why I'd rather have one job of being either the guitar player or the vocalist, and not doing two things at the same time. It's just easier on my part. Also, when you do sing live you're supposed to resemble the song as best as you can to the recorded version, and his timing isn't great in the littlest spots, that it throws the whole thing off. I think it's either because he's so pumped, or he's too nervous

That drum kit sounds like kleenex boxes with a tinfoil pie plate as the symbols lol

The guitar on clean sounds like nintendo tunes (not bad, I like that lol).

Not bad for 15 though. Just my two cents, and I know I sound like a negative bugger, but I guess that's why they call it criticism lol.

  9. The Backdoor Boys are gone

didn't they just release a new album? lol

One Tragicallly Hip can fix the worst we've thrown out to the world. Maybe throw in a few Barenaked Ladies for good measure!

Please don't say that. I'm sick and tired of the Hip and the Barenaked Ladies, probably because 1. The Hip is played here almost 24/7 by my dad and 2. The Ladies though are talented need to stop releasing strange videos with monkies talking about God knows what lol

Canada has had its problems, such as the following you all mentioned, and Avril Latrine, I mean Lavgine. She was so rockish until a year later when she changed her look and now looks like every other female pop star. It's good she got a year and a half after her first album to actually learn how to play a few chords on the guitar and piano, learn how to use a pencil and stop lieing that she writes all her songs.

So Neil Young is a canadian, eh? wink.gif . I didn't realise canada could produce such hill billies. Then again, you guys can get pretty isolated up there I suppose. They should reshoot Deliverance in the sub arctic.

I didn't realise there were hillbillies until Bubba Sparks came along.

Do my Canadian friends now understand the mountain they must climb?

We didn't have to climb that mountain. We just shipped her off to the U.S like how Toronto ships all its garbage to Michigan haha.

There's a few more that the Great White North residents need to answer for:

    - Corey Hart

    - Allanus Morrissette

Isn't Michael Bolton Canadian? lol oh man he was considered on much more music the worst of the worst before Celine Dion.

Wasn't it the U.S that produced the new kids on the block, vanilla ice and that rico suave guy? lol oh man that was hillarious. Just read the lyrics to Ice Ice Baby, that has to be one of the funniest songs ever, especially since he was serious, unlike Weird Al. If Weird Al was to do a parody on that he'd keep the lyrics the same and just sing and do those dances haha.

  10. I'm going to laugh if ever major manufacturing guitar company filed a lawsuit for 1 million each (over 10-20 mill maybe in total? lol)

    What can be patented?

Only certain things can be patented. These are: new and useful processes, machines, manufactures, or compositions of matter, or any new and useful improvements thereof. Things that cannot be patented include: methods of doing business, processes composed only of mental steps, and mathematical formulae. Most new devices and machines can be patented. Software is patentable, so long as it falls within the proper categories set forth above.

  11. I never knew that about Garth Brooks. I'd pay him royalties to lay off that flaming shirt I always see him in lol.

In the end, I think the MPA will lose, because if they win, then the entire internet should be shut down since one person is typing up information of news, how tos, what nots and references, which is simply what tabs are; a how-to what-not, and lyrics are references. Imagine this, authors should be paid royalties for a student to reference their book? Crazy.

  12. Curtis, I couldn't agree more with you about Simple Plan. I find it so crazy how kids are listening to that crap and they think their life sucks, and get all depressed and blah blah blah, yet if they were to watch an occasional Dr. Phil they may realize that their life isn't that crappy after all.

Green Day out of all of them are more talented, especially in the writing field, but still, I'd rather listen to the Polyphonic Spree (if you can believe that) than have to listen to why the world sucks and all. It's funny because bands usually say "we're just making people aware", yea we get the friggan point and have for the last 10-15 years. But, on a side note, I think we should stop complaining and just go get our own record deals and write songs metaphorically speaking on how crappy they are, and maybe now and then trash them through interviews, therefore, it causes another Celebrity Boxing show where you can then beat the snot out of a band member, or the band members and claim victory over the pop-punk movement or whatever movement you want to take over.

Oh yeah. I got it all figured out and I'm so tired I'm going to bed :D lol

    -Jamie

  13. This whiney crap about how life sucks has been on for a lot longer than you think. Remember Fade To Black by Metallica? I don't care if that's about someone they knew or not, because the average person wouldn't know.

Green Day is a lot better than other bands out there like Good Charlotte, and Simple Plan. The only thing I dislike about them is they have the same style since they first started. At least the Beatles changed now and then.
