Hi All! I'm a newbie to guitar finishing and to this site. I always wanted to build a guitar of my own and now I have a chance to. I have a new raw alder body with a new raw maple on maple neck, and I’ve been thinking about a finish for a long time and after reading the tutorial on "how to do a swirl finish", I decided that's the finish that I want for my fist project. I'm a little confused on the type of paint to use on it though. The following is the formula that I was going to follow, but I’m not sure if all the paints are compatible.
1) Deft acrylic lacquer sanding and sealer.
2) Dupli-color acrylic lacquer gray sandable primer.
3) Dupli-color acrylic lacquer white, (for the base color coat).
4) Plasti-kote Odds n Ends oil based enamel, (for the swirl).
5) Plasti-Kote clear acrylic enamel, (for the clear coat).
Any help/input would be very appreciated. Like I said, it’s my first project and I want to do it right. Thanks in advance for any help.
