On kyllä pirun hienosti väsätty! tervaleppä on erittäin hyvää puuta bodeihin.
...and the same in english.

mmmm I like that wenge tree drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif
I knew you would say that. My local wood supplier mostly has very healthy supply of Wenge......
I haven't used it on body though.... might go that route in future. Wenge is one of my favorite woods. It just has so much character. But I don't have to tell you.
don't forget to use a mask when ur working with wenge. i've heard it's somewhat toxic.. is that true?

all i can say is that ur work is very clean. nice woods too. i should invest in some special tools too. the bending iron i've used before is basically a block of brass that i've heated on the stove i also haven't got those small fingerplanes.. i made one with a 1cm wide blade, but it's not small enough.
-
yeah it's gonna be a 6 stringer. it's actually more like a viola.
Reminds me more of a viol de gamba, but I think those are closer to the size of a 'cello.
ur right the head carve really makes it look alot like viola da gamba.. but as you said, they're bigger. mine is gonna have metal frets instead of gut frets too.
-
i can't wait to see matt finish his violin.. i've built a few just for fun and i really can see he's very talented and his work is way better than mine.
but then again, i'm an amateur
i was just thinking about making a new fretted one for my own use. one with a modern design without a scroll or corner blocks. maybe even a viola.. gotta think about it..
6 String Violin? I like the idea of a freted violin, or atleast one with note markers.yeah it's gonna be a 6 stringer. it's actually more like a viola. i thought about using fret markers at first, but i realized that i couldn't see them at all when i was in the playing position.

Awesome!
What size frets are you going to use? Did you calculate neck angle? Are you going to put a Floyd on it? Going to Carri-burst it?

oh jesus! that's just amazing.

i must admit that i wasn't much impressed by the first drawing of the bass..
but then i saw those pictures and i must say that is one COOL bass! keep up the good work dude.
-
also make sure that the string slides easily over the nut.
-
i covered the rosewood fingerboard on my fretless bass with clear polyurethane. looks and feels just great. ofcourse my roundwound strings are scratching the surface and i need to refinish it in a few years. still better than letting the strings eat the wood.

uncle dave.. ur my hero. seriously! i just love every guitar on your website. keep up the good work. i hope i'll get as good as you someday.
-
isn't the upper hole a little off center seriously man.. your work is amazing!
-
i prefer the cheap asian tuners they have at the local music store.. they're very close copies of regular gotoh tuners and are very stable. oh did i mention that they're also very cheap?
though i'd like a little lighter tuners on my doubleneck.

Hey, BigD. You should move to the northwest. That stuff grows on trees up here!
lol
-
hey! that's the fretless bass which jaco played in the modern electric bass video too cool.
-
the "ink" laser printers use is actually more like powder. i don't believe it would run.
-
i admire your desing man.. very cool guitar
-
very impressive man! i've come to conclusion that i definately like natural finishes over painted or stained ones.. very beautiful work man.
-
Just like Epi announces they are mahogany and you just get a surprise alder with mahogany veneer!
Yeah but the vintage g-400 sg is really mahogany.. it doesn't have a thick coat of shiny poly over it, so it's much easier to see.
-
that wood looks nice.. i would scream if someone would offer me a free body that ain't gonna happen since i life in the land of snow and i don't have any money
how's sapele then.. is it softer than honduras mahogany?
-
i inlayed a small triangle in the place of a fret dot on my bass and felt good about myself.. until i saw your inlay that is.. now i wanna burn it
-
i'm not saying all maisons are bad.
-
i had a maison les paul copy once.. it sucked.
