i got some new speakers. i got some emeince Man o Wars. i was told that these are the knockoff of the celestion 75 watt ones. well they suck ass.they sound thin compated to my cheap 30 watt bottom of the line celestions. i guess im gonna keep em temp. on the bottom. anyways i was wondering what are some good speakers? im after a dave mustaine live type sound. iv read that he uses the celestion g12t-75. i only got the man o wars because they were an "improved version" of that speaker. can anyone make any recomendations?

to make matters worse my 85 corolla is a coupe. it took me some time to get the thing in the back but i did it somehow. thanks for the sites. ive have prenty of expreince with with capreting, and other types of covering but never tolex. hopefuly i can do it right.

funny how this thread started by me asking where i could get a 15 inch speakers. anyway something really sweet happened to me today. i told my dad about this project and out of nowhere i got a call from his drinking buddy telling me to come down to his place. when i got there he GAVE me a project that he never finished. its a bookshelf that he never got a to finish since he "didnt have time". its 30Hx30Wx15.5D. he said its made from MDF. i mean what are the odds of this happening??? this box is very close to my original demensions, the only catch was i had to bring it home and getting it to fit in my corolla wasent the easyest thing in the world. Oh, dose anyone know where i can get tolex? my top three picks are: black (of course), red, or if i can find it checker board pattern.

so far here are the demensions: 30Wx30Hx13D. i got those from looking at many cabs such as a few marshalls, a few crates , a mesa and a huges and kettner. i also did some mesurments and reserached head sizes and most of them will fit with a 30" cab. my brother told me to port the box and its something im concidering.

thanks for all the help. im gonna look into other woods befor i get the MDF. im also concidering looking for solid wood like poplar for it. honestly when you think about its like playing a guitar, you wouldnt want one made out of particle board or plywood.

i read a review on a basson cab in the guitar world magazine and it said that it was made out of MDF. i have my eye on that since its not to spendy. i can get a full sheet for 20 bucks at a local hardwear store. in the review it said that its ..."a highly resonant material that most high end audio manufactures use..." last would it matter if i mix speakers? i have 2 8ohm celestions and i can get some eminence 8 ohm speakers really cheap. would there be any problem here?

ive never thought of it that way and it dose sound like a good idea. i guess it would give me a surround sound type feel i have on on each end. ive concidered stacking just the cabs and building a table like stand for the head so i can have a good hight level. what type of metairal would be best for a cab? what are the high end companys using?

i see what you mean. at first i recondered the 12s and thought about 10s but then decieded to just build the 4x12. the can would of at lease needed to be 30 inches and about and extra 5 with wheels. if i were to build another one and with the hight of the head i would be looking at over 6 and 1/2 feet with a stack. im only 5'6. so for now im just gonna do some research on the 4x12 cab. later on i might build a 2x15 can just like the crate i played thru. thanks for ur help, i could of made a mistake i would of regret.

i am trying to creat my own "sound", i once played thru one of those blue voodoo cabs that have 2x15 and i really liked the low end i got out of it. the only problem was when i used ONLY that cab there was a lack of the high end i want. the guy had a normal 4x12 on top and the mix of both those cabs sounded really good in my book. so after some research i thought if i were to put the 2x12s and the 15 it would make a very good balcance and that way i could still have the 1/2 stack since i dont have the room or need for a full stack at the time. to sum it all up i like the idea of having the bottom end when im playing muted riffs but at the same time having the high end for solos.

i want to build a cusom cab that houses 2x12s and a single 15inch speaker. after doing some reseach ive found that its gonna be bigger than normal 4x12 cabs. my question is about the 15 inch speaker. dose anyone know where i can get one. on ebay all they have are old ones and on Avatar all they have is the big ben. i would get it but under the APPLICATIONS it says that they are for open back APPLICATIONs . the thing is i do not want an open back cab, i want a closed back. dose anyone know where i can get a 15inch speaker?

after looseing sleep and spending countless hours trying to fix it i decided to take it to a tech. i dont want to mess it up worse that it is right now.

atfer a closer look i realized that that there are two areas for fuese in the power amp. only prolbem is that theres nothing there. dose anyone know have a valvetate 8200 who is willing to look inside and tell me what kind it uses?

its not the transformer. i went to a guitar center and they sent me somewhere else since they do not service amps but they are a "cetifed dealer". anywho im out of ideas on what it is. as of now im gonna take it to a tech unless anyone out there has any ideas.

ok, i checked it for loose connections and found nothing i also got a new tube in it and a new fuse and it still dosent work. i got some conatct cleaner on the solders on the transfromer and then relized that it was not the origanl one. its a cheap no name one that has a price tag for $25.49, the more i looked into it i noticed that it makes a loud hum when the amp is on. is it normal for it to make a loud hum? also how would i check to see if its still good?

that was not it. im not sure what it is but im gonna sell it as a "project" item on ebay. with my job and life itself i have no time to try and fix it. all the resistors are getting a reading on the multi meter and the 3dtp switch is new. its set up for a LED and it has an adjustible gain know on the outside. if ur intrester send me a message and wel talk. thank you all who have helped me.

good news: i grabed my multi meter and went thru and tested all the resistors and everything esle. antways i found that one of the capasitors was not getting a reading. there are 2 of em that are identical in size and shape and the numbers on them. one of them got a good rating and the other one didnt get a reading at all. im gonna try and swap it out with a new one and if thats the case i might as well put in the other one so both are new. im not sure if this is whats wrong but im gonna give it a shot

he said the only thing he touched was the tube. im gonna go and make sure evey thing is connected right and hopfull its just that cuz i dont want to take it to a tech, i dont have any money

i checked then and they seem fine and they got a strong reading on the mulitmeter so thats one possibility gone, im thinkin it could be the resistor thats connected to the LED and acts as its power source.

i hve the true bypass mod, an LED and some various resistors wither tooken out or changed in value.i dont think its the LED sicne it was working fine fro the last 4 months or so but thats when i modded it. i havent changed or played with anything insde. also what do the electrolytic caps look like and how would i know that they need to be repalced?

i checked the tube and it golws REALLY LOW. is it normal for them to do that? ive seen a crate blue voodoo's tubes and those really light up. anyways its so dim you can barly see the light. ive gone ahead and ordered a new tube and untill then im stuck playin my little crate combo. ansil-as far as my bro taking my tube i doubt it. he dosent play guitar or anything he just loves working with electrical stuff and like takin it apart to look at it.

no i havent seen it light up ill try it later today, as far as the other thing it dosent sounld like a light bulb when its burn out
