  1. Thanks. I put in a SD Screamin Demon. It's my first experience with this pickup but I like it so far. I didn't do any grain filling, just sanded up to 1000 grit and applied the oil. There are 3 thin coats on there now.
  2. Very beautiful guitar. And a big thanks for sharing so much information! I would love to get my hands on a multiscale instrument!
  3. Thanks for the feedback everyone. Pretty much finished this up last night. I still need to fine tune the set-up and shim up one of the pickups that is a little low, but I got to play it for the first time last night and it was great!
  4. Thanks for the feedback. I'm sort of partial to longer upper horns, but at times I do feel like I didn't get the lower one quite right. I will definitely share my new designs with you guys for some feedback before the next go around.
  5. I drilled the center holes first, and then I chucked up a cove router bit in my drill press and plunged it in to cut the radius. I rounded it over on the top surface by hand.
  6. Hummm... Where can I get some of that "less than stellar" maple?? That´s a beautiful guitar. Would you happen to have pics of when you were building it? I just love threads that show the steps. It does have some bad spots that you can't really see in the photo. I think I paid 25 bucks for it. I've got just a couple of pics that I took before I assembled it. I just have to find em! I didn't document the process at all, I wish I had. I'll be doing that on the next guitar for sure. Thanks!
  7. LOVE the body design. Looking forward to some more pics!
  8. This is going to be a great looking guitar. Nice work!
  9. Thanks! There are a couple dark spots on the top that don't show up real well in that photo, but overall I still like it. I've got gold Schaller M6 tuners for it, and a gold TOM bridge and knobs. Also gold string-thru ferules for the top and bottom. Pickup wise, I've got a Seymour Duncan '59 for the neck and the choice between a Screamin Demon and JB for the bridge. I think I'm going to start with the Screamin Demon.
  10. I am a brand new member so hello to everyone. I was encouraged to share my work in the announcement forum, so here goes. This is my first serious project like this, having only built a couple of unplayable mock-ups before this. It is an original design, but draws strongly from a few other brands (perhaps too strongly) but I'm hoping to refine the design a bit and start on a new model soon. There were some shortcuts taken to save money (being a prototype, more or less) such as the laminated body, and the less than stellar quality maple top, but it has really served as a learning experience - so I'll be going all out on my next build. It is a mahogony body, 3 piece mahogony neck with a deep set tenon, ebony fingerboard with pearl inlays. The finish is gunstock oil. These pictures were taken just after some final steel wooling on the finish, and in the middle of a big mess so please excuse that mess! That is the truss rod cover there to the left which I'm thinking will be laser etched with a logo by a friend of mine as soon as I come up with one...
  11. Thanks, and perhaps I will start a thread in the "in progress" forum.
  12. Hello everyone. I am an aspiring builder just finishing up my first serious project. A friend referred me to the site and so far I am really liking what I see here. Hope to get to know you all.
