  1. I just replaceb the nut on my Charvel Model 4 with a new graphite nut and I want to change the locking nut or modify it at least.

Because the B string is pulled on to the screw of the nut because of the jackson/charvel string tee angels.

Here is a link to a locking nut just like mine.

I would prefer to not drill any holes on the guitar itself but I don't mind modifying the nut.

  2. Oh I see. Thanks so much for all the help.

The diagrams will be a big help. I think I will just go with the tone as you said because as I will most likely be using the volume.

I will report back and let you know how it goes.

Also the tone pot is an A250k and I have an A500k so I could just solder a 500k resistor over lugs 1 and 3 to make it 250k?

  3. Is the volume pot attached to the PCB? If so you can't do that, but you could still wire a bypass on the tone to just bypass the tone control and give you more top end than turning it to 10 even would. I think you would just have the white and the wire from A on the center 2 lugs, then you'd wire the "down" lugs to the middle lug on the tone pot and the 2 "up" lugs to each other. I have no experience with active electronics though, I'd have to fiddle around with it to tell you for sure.

The volume and tone pot are seperate the mid boost is attached to the pcb.

Are you talking about wiring the push pull pot? Do you think would could draw a diagram with the keys and symbols on the keyboard?

    Like this.

The active electronics are strange as the pickups are passive so i'm not to sure what they really do.

  4. I've recently bought a Charvel model 4 with a HSS configuration, 3 pots (volume, tone and a mid boost) and 3 toggle switches for the pickups.

    This is the circuitry.

I'm about to copper shield the cavity and I will replace the potentiometers also.

I was wondering if it is possible to hook up a push pull pot on the volume or tone potentiometer and in the pull position the potentiometers would not function?

    What do you guys think?

  5. Hi guys i'm sure this is a question asked so many times but I couldn't find in anywhere so here goes.

I making a tube amp and cabinet and was wondering what cable, jacks and plugs I need to connect them?

I am using 2 16ohn 10" speakers so I will wire them in parallel. Do I use stereo or mono jacks and plugs?

    Cheers for the help

  6. Oh I see thats a shame. Well is there any other way I could use a 6 pin push pull pot on a HSH guitar to get differnet tones?

Edit: Well i found a schematic Here and it looks great, but could someone tell me what pickups would be engaged when I push and pull the potentiometer?

  7. Hi guys,

I am buying an Ibanez RG1570 and am thing of replacing the pickups and putting in a push pull potentiometer.

Here are my thoughts, A Dimarzio Evolution or PAF Pro in the bridge, and maybe a type of Seymour Duncan or dimarzio in the middle and neck position.

The guitar is a HSH configuration and I want to rewire it with a push pull potentiometer for the volume.

I found one wiring diagram from Ibanez and this is it SV5470 wiring

I was wondering about the push pull potentiometer as it has 12 points to solder on and all the pictures I’ve seen the pots only have 6. Do I have to special order one? Also the switch looks quite weird do I have to order one as well or can I use my standard Ibanez one?

If you look at the first picture of the switch you will see in writing OTAX and to the left and right there are wires going into what looks like holes, are these just soldered onto the switch?

    Cheers for the help

  8. I'm thinking of making a new guitar that is exactly what I want in a guitar.

The body shape will be like a jackson soloist body but i'm having a very hard time finding a body. I found a very nice one on warmoth Soloist body but its a bit out of my price range.

I would like a neck made out of the same material as the back of the body but I don't really mind. I would prefer to have a 24 fret rosewood fretboard.

I also what to have a HSH routing with 5 way switch, 1 volume and 1 tone.

I want a original floyd rose for the bridge.

The pickups will all be seymour duncan and there will be a JB trembucker is the bridge, a SSL-6 in the middle and a Jazz in the neck.

I really like this colour of guitar so I might paint it this colour

I was looking at buying this body as it looks amazing but I want it painted as well.

Does anyone know of a site that makes soloist, dinky etc type bodys and paints them aswell.

    Cheers for the help guys

  9. Hey guys I’m building a strat style guitar and was looking for a forum that could help me and this looks like the one. I haven’t built a guitar before so bare with me.

I've bought a body and neck from bhefnerco on ebay

It’s an ash body with a rosewood neck with 22 frets, 10" radius and 6150 frets.

I've got all the parts that I need and have a few questions.

Do I glue the nut to the cavity first then lacquer the neck?

I have put copper shielding on the pick guard, is there anything else I need to do to make it work?

Should I drill the holes for pick guard screws first then paint the guitar or the other way round?

Do I use sanding sealer on the neck and then lacquer it? Do I also do this to the bit of the neck that the screws go into?

    Cheers for the help.
