Well, as some of you remember from my only other thread, I announced I was painting my Cozart Les Paul knock-off, and dropped my camera. Well, Nikon still has mine, but i was lucky enough to borrow my friend's of the same make. So the following is going to be a mixture of Camera phone pictures and some better one. Enjoy!
This is what I'm starting with. It came off-white from the factory, and my friend Cam airburshed a stripe on it, with an Iron cross. It wore this paint for maybe a week.
And then i took into class to rip it down for a repaint. I started by dusting on a base coat of Deep Black, followed by hosing it down with a custom mixture of a red Candy and Pearl suspended in an intercoat clear. I finnished up with a 40% Flattened Clear coat to give it a satin finish.
After letting the clear set up for a day or so, I hit it with One-Shot pinstriping enamel in gloss black, a nice contrast over the flat not-quite-black. For the stripes on the headstock I used a Mack 10 Series 00 and for the body i used an Xcalibur 000. (Don't ask why the difference, i'm not even sure...)
The red candy and pearl gives it an almost brownish color when viewed from a distance, and up clso ein sunlight or bright lighting a VERY nice sparkle. Unfortunately this color has to be seen in person to get the full affect, and the following pictures allow it to seem rather dull.
Anyway, enough jibber-jabber, here's the pictures:
Dusty, i know, I know...Its been collecting dust waiting for new pickups and maybe an ebony fret board?
This picture **best** shows the color, although its still not perfect...
I really like this striping, this is my favorite of the whole guitar.
And this is my least favorite....took 4 or 5 tries to ge tit looking "right" and I still think it kinda looks off.
I like this one too, not as much as the first though...
Anyway, let me know what y'all think of her! She's not done yet, not by a long shot, but i've gotta let the funding reaccumulate before i can continue.
