  1. Grizzly sells a few guitar items. I've been dealing with them for sometime now. Good quality, tools are of a very good quality as well. A local guy that owns a sawmill pointed me in their direction. Haven't been let down yet. Some prices might be a little steap or so it seems but the quality is excellant. Just my opinion. :D

  2. Alright I've been working on it like non-stop lol. And I've found that it doesn't have to be the bridge pickup. I play a Tele style guitar custom built myself. I can pull the pinches off with the bridge pickup, but once I got to where I could do it fairly accurately I decided to try it with the neck pickup. It works, doesn't squell as much as the bridge but it can be done. You all probably already know that though lol.

As far as amp goes, well I'm using a late 60's model Kustom 4 channel powered board. But I also have an original Fender '65 Twin Reverb (not a reproduction).

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the information and help. :D

  3. Hold up gymshoe....He never said that his teacher told him that the guitar wasn't set up for mediums. He stated that his teacher informed him that the lights were to heavy for bending. We stated our opinions that the custom lights were not to heavy for bending, and that some of us would rather play with mediums (or heavier strings). I don't honestly see where you get off calling our opinions "macho BS." Because we were saying that the heavier strings give a better sound. Granted it's an opinion, but that doesn't give you the right to come in here and bad mouth our opinions.

Most guitars that like heavier strings wouldn't work for me. Don't get caught up in this "no wussy little strings for me" macho BS.

And there you have it, they wouldn't work for him. It's strictly up to you on which strings you like, which thickness you like the best. But I'm saying that the custom lights are not to heavy to bend with, just like everyone else with the exception Hoser Rob. :D

  4. Has anyone here ever seen walnut that looks like Madacasgar Rosewood? My soon to be father in law knows that I build guitars and came home this evening with a chunk of wood 2 inches thick, 14 inches wide, and 6 feet long that he says is walnut. Well it looks like rosewood, same grain pattern and color. It's some of the best looking walnut I have ever seen.

He told me he got it from on of his friends that builds tables, and cabinets and stuff like that. Guess it's an early christmas present. Which I'm thankful for, but I'm thinking this must have cost him a ton. I'll get some pictures up as soon as possible. I just can't believe the looks of this wood though. Never seen walnut like it before. Has anyone here?

  5. I was taking all that into consideration. I didn't mean to sound like an a$$hole, I was just trying to figure out, what about it that doesn't look right. I can't pin point it just yet but I'm still trying. Why aren't you using this neck on your explorer? Just curious....Could be interesting with a baritone neck on it. I'm still not sure that that's maple. I would probably buy it but I'm busted right now. Me and my girlfriends apartment caught fire lastnight B) so we're stuck living with her parents until we get back on our feet. :D

    :D

  6. Is it just me or does that neck look umm I dunno what word to use here.....wrong? Something doesn't look right about it for some reason. Even considering it's not finished, something still looks wrong. Anyone else think this? :D
