  1. The only time ive EVER had any complaints from the neibours is when i had a small gig in my bac yard (i actualy call i my back yard. my dads from canada) i had a PA that was about 1200watt. a tad overkill i think. the police shut it down at 9pm....

i normaly prsctice dirty at good volume, but i practice clean to make sure im acurrate, cause i know i can get away with loppyplaying heavily distorted and loud.

(sporryy if theis pist is a tad hard to read im just bad from th pub a tad worst for ware.... sorry..)

  2. Although from the pics i cant realy tell, it looks repairable. provided the peices fit back together cleanly you could easily fix it. Just do a quick search through the forums and youl find quite a few threads dealing with headstock repairs.

And yes you are right, its a very pretty colour

  3. i need a tight finish on it to give it at least a descent sound

Can you explain that for me, im having difficulty understanding exactly what you mean. you know finishes make *very* little differance when it comes to the tone of an eletric instrument, where pick up choice and amp choice will make more of a differance.

  4. You take out insurance to cover these sort of things, maby you should call up or go down an speak to some one at the rental place. They should be able to tell you what you can and cant do. I know if i were to take apart a guitar i rented from my local shop, any insurance i took aout would be void and they will probibly blame anything broken on me taking it apart.

On a side note, how did you like the trem when it was working. I personaly hate them. My mate managed to pull his clean off his £1000 SA prestige. not a pretty sight.

  5. Getting this one back on the road again. Unfourtunatly, upon doing my measurments this morning i found out my template shifted when i was routing the bridge pup cavity, not by much, just a 5mm to the right, but that is alot to me. I figure i have 2 viable options, route more to the left and fabricate some larger pup rings, or fill the rout with some spare mahogany and start over. I think i may do the latter.

I'll post pics showing how bad it is tomoro when i get my cam back. heres some snaps i took of my phone, just to give you an idea of where i am with it.

Dampend with naptha in the pic.

baisicly all i need to do now is finish fretting (ran out of fretwire) then get the neck to where i want it (i thought it was there just now, but my ibanez tells me to go thinner.... just another 3 or 4mm, i hve about 9befor i hit truss routs.) fill and re-route bridge pup cavity, blend repair into top, mount bridge, smooth the top out some more. Then finish it up and wire it up.

  6. The spacing on my ibanez 7 is 1" roughly center to center. But it will depend on your specific tuners how close you can go. Scale length realy has nothing to do with headstock length. Get the old pencil and paper out and do a drawing, or print off scale pictures of headstocks from the net, you may have to resize the picture, but just use the nut width as a start and scale the pic up so that it is correct, the rest will be too. (if that sounds vauge and mkes n sense, its probibly because its 5am here)

All you need to do is a little drawing. Itl all become pretty clear what you like. I know i like my own headstocks to be 3 a side or 4+3 so i can make them quite short, im hoping this will balance the guitars nicley when there done. I used quite light peices of wood for the bodys ad i cant stand neck heavy guitars (i will make an exeption for my paul tho :D)

  7. It will tke as long as it takes, there are LOADS of variables involed (general wood working skill, ability to learn new techniques, material used ect ect)

My advice here would be to NOT work out n overage time per build, you my find that you will make that a time constraint. take your time and you will make a great instrument. Rushing leads to disaster, and i know all to well about that.

And last but not least, pot pics! Its great to see an avoustic being build and you have my respect for trying to build one. Im sticiking with solid bodys for the mean while.

  8. This sounds good, 8 String Rg! awesome, i love the new ibanez 8's. I just got me a RG7, got used to it pretty quick, its great to have a lower range, i can get some realy nice chords using the 7th string. Im thnking about building and 8 after ifinish the LP7 i started nearly 2 years ago.

take LOADS of pics! I will treat this thread along with matt's and canuck brians s the gospel when im ready, i realy respect your work.

  9. Id go with a normal L500, the xl will be way too hot in comparason with a P90. Also for the type of music you play you dont want a stupidly hot PU, if i remember the XL is abou 18-12ohms, about 8-12 ohm output would be fine.

the 59/JB combo would be good but i imagine you want the p90 as Mr Belamy has one fitted im asuming?

  10. Mine turns 18 in 3 years (old enough to do gigs in the UK)....

Since when? ive been gigging in clubs since i was about 15. never had a problem. Unless im reading it wrong... it is quite late here.

Yeh its great having a drumer, my brother plays drums and its great to get a little jam on the go. Shame he's more into somking and drinking than practicing now.
