  1. i had no idea i could fry a pot from the heat thanks for the heads up ...im surprised i havn't fried any yet....wow.....
  2. i just read on ed romans site (i know...its ed...but..), there was a little blurb pretty much stating that Koa > Alves any truth to this? now im starting to think i'll get a Koa neck if this is the case
  3. yeah, the bevelled fretboard caught me off guard too good work!
  4. well now that thats eliminated everything by myrtle i think ill just go with what i originally posted (now that you guys have confirmed its a balanced combo) and i think ill look for a spalt myrtle top get the best of all worlds :-p thanks guys
  5. exactly. its just retarded. why give a CAD file of a 25" neck if its not even scaled to 25"?? and thanks for the formula. ill try to use it to correct my current drawings (the bridge is kinda randomly set)
  6. there is a website on the project guitar links section that gives you some CAD files for known guitars its a good reference cuz this way you'll already have the neck dimensions and pickups, and hardware to scale. just erase the body and work from there. i do all of my designs in CAD and its the only way to go. everything is to perfect scale and corrections are easy as pie. and just so you know, that website with the CAD designs, for some reason their scaling is wayyyyyy off. i mean their guitars are thousands of feet high so i had to scale them all down to realistic proportions. just thought i'd let you know. good luck with the CAD designs, show me when you're done.
  7. so its really heavy? hmm, so IF i have to use the Alves a a neck only that leaves an option for the body.... suggestions? Limba, zebrawood, zitcote, myrtle for the body instead?
  8. why are you bringing this up again? are you like trying to start a big argument in this thread again? lets just move on already..
  9. ← had no idea the poo poo word was such an infraction around here *shrug*
  10. suggestion: create more of an arc in the sides (even just slightly), and lessen the deepness of the crotch cutouts
  11. I could be wrong but I think he meant has a similar sound to rosewood's in general, he said it felt waxy and dense when he worked with it and similar to rosewood's, he didn't say it sounded waxy. ← how would rosewood sound if used for a neck/body though? ...good?
  12. i wish i knew what wax sounded like... it can be used for a full body though im assuming, right?
  13. tone wise, would this wood combo be good? Goncalo Alves neck & body Ebony fretboard Spalt top, or Lacewood top Can Alves be used for bodies as well as necks? i also had Myrtle under consideration but i don't know where that'd fit into my plans... thanks guys
  14. is the HS looking too big? i had to enlarge it to get the tuning pegs in line with the strings. its 8 225/256" tall (for the record)
  15. it was my first reply after you posted? sounds soon enough to me
  16. maybe i cam across a little strong but when i first read your original post it sounded to me like you were taking credit for a Moser design and that kinda bothered me didnt mean to set of some sort of troll alert, thegarehanman seems to be running around the board like the british are invading, lol
  17. nevermind, found the CAD file dude, are these measurements correct? im looking at the file and the fretboard is something 142" long! or maybe my settings are just off eitehr way, i hope they arent. cuz i had to rescale my entire guitar im designing to the measurements of the RRV file (cuz i thought i was wrong the whole time) and now im crossing my fingers i dont have to un-do it all edit: yeah, just checked, the RRV's neck is 471.5" long yikes then again, all the ones on the site are like this....what gives? edit: oh, i dont know whats going on....damn CAD edit: oh my god my guitars 7 feet tall.... edit: nvm, its 85 feet 5 inches tall...
  18. i dont like the fretboard at all.....to me it looks like one of those wooden rulers after you get pencil marks n **** all over it from a lot of use ADMIN EDIT- Consider this your first warning regarding swearing on the forum. Please re-read the rules if you have any questions.
  19. its impossible for him to not have seen it as he already has called Neal Moser and influence (as stated earlier in the thread)
  20. you came up with!? thats a moser HS dude, dont copy **** and take credit for it all you did was take the top/middle spike out
  21. I disagree. I think the visual characteristics of this guitar are already over the top, and why stop there? It wont take away from it, just add to it. This thing screams "***, Thats a guitar?!" so the fretboard, like the body, paint, neck, headstock, etc. should all be wild
