  1. Thanks. I'm glad people seem to like it. The flakes are House of Kolor coarse rainbow flake. After the base color was sprayed, I added the flakes to the clear and sprayed three coats. After that I applied three coats of regular clear on top of the flaked clear and that was it. Actually, the pictues dont do it justice as the body is really shimmery! I will try to take some pictures out in the sunlight to really show it off.
  2. Sorry all, I just fixed the links. They should be working now
  3. OK all, I sprayed the finish on my current JPM project today. It came out really well. I just need to let it fully cure and thend sand, buff, and assemble. Here are some current pics. Let me know what you think. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwa.../Picture004.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwa.../Picture008.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwa.../Picture006.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwa.../Picture004.jpg
  4. OK, I figured I would add a few pics of the hardware I would be using for this project. Enjoy In this pic you can see the Cosmo Ibanez Lo-pro Edge trem http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwa.../Picture003.jpg Here are the Cosmo tuners http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwa.../Picture002.jpg And here are the Dimarzio pick-ups (Air Norton and Steve's Special) http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwa.../Picture001.jpg OK, some pics of the painted boody in a couple of weeks. Frank
  5. I bought the decal from 1stdecals.com
  6. Thanks for getting the pics to work! I will be undertaking a few JPM projects this summer(hopefully) I plan on doing three, with one of them being a Picasso graphic. But instead of using stickers, i will be using paint for the graphic. The first finish will be the sick sparkle you see above. Please feel free to ask any questions. I will post again soon with the progress. Frank
  7. Hi all. I am currently in the middle of building and painting my own "custom Ibanez" JPM. I will be including pictures of the build and paint as it progresses. Please ad your feedback, pro and con, as I would be interested in reading it. Im sure some of you will like the build and color choice and some will not. Also, feel free to ask any questions you have and I will try to answer them all. Thanks Ok, first set of pics shows the bare Alder body with some filler to smooth out any imperfections in the wood and to fix a couple of dings made when I dropped it. (yea, I said I dropped it,.. dont ask http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00835.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00836.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00837.jpg OK, in these next set of pics, you can see the body has been primed with filling sandable primer and block sanded down smooth so it is ready to accept the coat of sealer. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00840.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00838.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00841.jpg OK, here is a pic of the Wizzard II headstock cleared (but not yet buffed) with my "custom" logo. When I get the mony I want to have a reproduction JPM neck made. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00846.jpg I will be finishing it in House of Kolor Orion silver and applying a heavy metal flake in hopes to achieve a finish very similar to this M.M. finish. (I borrowed this image from an Eb*y auction) http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/ss4.jpg OK, the finish will be going on in a couple of weeks, so I will update then. Thanks Frank
  8. Yes, I also read that here, but I just need some info on the Thin Ice issue. Thanks! Frank
  9. Hi all. New to the board and I have to say you guys are great and incredibly helpful. I have learned so much already. Anyway, here is my question. I did some searches , but I could not find the exact answer I needed. What I would like to know is in reference to filling the grain on a body prior to painting. I understand you need to do this, and since I work in the automotive industry I am familiar with body fillers, so I have decided to go this route. LGM recommends using a product called "Thin Ice". Am I correct to assume that this works for grain filling? 1) Apply very thin then sand down? 2) Is Thin Ice a "glazing putty"? 3) Will this work to properly fill the grain prior to priming? <---most important. 4) If so, where can I buy Thin Ice? 5) Thank you Frank
