Oh cool I'll send you a pic or two of mine.
That makes 3 pointy V's in guitar of the day

DON'T STRIP THE PINK!
If you do, paint it a hotter pink.
Pink strats rule
-
Thanks man, I like these picture tutorial sites.
This is very thorough, one of the better ones IMO.
-
The back of the neck is really cool looking, and that neck joint looks comfotable.
Personally I see this guitar in gloss white, but that is a lot of work. If you work up a nice shine with tru-oil it should look good also.
-
The shape makes it look like an air bubble.
Was this intentional?
Fantastic, painters like you are few and far between.
-
Is that solid burl maple, Rhoads56?!
I can burly believe it.....................
That'll be a cool tele with the humbuckers and wilkinson.
-
Cool, the finish looks like what Rhoads56 did with his 8-string multiscale.
-
JACKSON 3x3!
I used it on my V and IMO it's the coolest headstock of all time.... besides the Jackson 6-inline.
The Jackson 3x3 would suit the RG very well.

Anyone? It being Christmas in two and a half hours down here, I had to ask.
Any pics of previous Christmas guitars? I'm hung up on this notion at the moment
-
My Carvin ebony board has a tiny brown streak at the 12th fret, I don't mind it though.
I really like macassar ebony boards, because there so stripy it's like there not trying to hide the stripes..... you know what I mean?
Synth access!? I want a synth access guitar and a gr-20 at the moment. But I cant find a solid body guitar with 24-frets and synth-access
That guitar's so cool, Bigsby's make you like a rock star.
-
I like that flame it's really nice.
I have the jack in the same place on my V and I like it just fine there.
-
Kinda Mockingbird-esque, except I actually like this design
25 frets though, what's up with that?
What colour are you thinking for paint?
-
Paint it green
I like that shape and those are nice woods so I'd go a tint or clear, but that's a ways away anyhow.
Good luck!
-
The fretboard looks like radiation poisoning! Those inlays are really nice.
Good to hear your feeling better, I was quite worried that I wasn't going to see any progress for a long while
-
I love it, So freeeeeeeeeking retro!
-
Beveled RG's looks really cool!
For the bridge pickup, you say your harmonics are not getting picked up enough, so why not try a Seymour D. Blackout?
There're supposed to have all the harmonic content of EMG's, without being overly compressed and sterile. (Sorry EMG fans)
I have no idea how to wire that with a PAF Pro in the neck, but it's probably possible
Also, I'm not sure that it will work with the Mega-switch.....
Anyways aside from that, I have a JB in one of my guitars and it's a wonderful all-rounder with great harmonics.
How about an Ibanez S style series output jack?
They look pretty sweet and the lead never gets in the way.

That's what I'm talking about
Will keeps tabs on this build.
-
The back is just as good looking as the front!
Just like a pretty las.....
Don't worry there are no women on here
At least... I don't think so...
-
Haahaha the work's piling up Doug, custom flight cases and everything excellent idea though.
You could build an amp into a steel drum to go with the guitar, and have green ooze coming out of it
Endless possiblilities!
-
Getting excited about this guitars completion! Almost as excited as I am for Christmas!
Good call on the glow material, it'll really take it to the next level.
-
The cover will have large sections burned away, exposing the pickup underneath.
YES!!!!!!
-
Love the body, but don't like the rounded fretboard end. Good to see your considering making a a different neck for it. The body calls for something a bit sharper, like the neck in your original post.
Your doing some awesome contoured and inlaid stuff at the moment. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for more of your work.
-
Great work, less is definatley more with this build, I'm not talking about the number of strings though
It has a certain elegance which can only come from simplicity.
How wide was your neck blank? Just out of interest.
-
How bout a paint based on U-235?
Keegan has a good point though, it would look pretty cool with a dirty "war torn" nuclear finish.
Something like this, http://cruof5.com/images/radioactive%20sign.jpg
That's just what I think when I see that body.
Anyways, nice build, good call on having the ferruls on the raised bit. Should look great.

Hey Matt how are the guitar going? I'm looking foward to pics of all the various SS's youv'e got on the go at the moment.
This thread has turned into the "which woods smell nice" thread.
Just to add my input, QLD maple smells really strong of woodfire pizza, but that's probably because I ran it through my table saw and it got burnt like crazy

Anything, as long as it's pink.
