  1. Yes, the guitar wiil be double cutaway style (strat, but with sharper edges). Another wood combination in mind is a solid koa body, or koa topped mahogany body (either of them with pau ferro neck and fretboard). I'm really into this wood choice for neck, cause I realy like Suhr Reb Beach model. What do you think of koa (in general and in this combo, particulary)?

  2. I'm looking for the unit with similar capabilities these days. I'm thinking of getting Boss GT-Pro, cause it has two proccessors (COSM), and it shouldn't have the micro delay between switching... Also, the LINE 6's POD ProXT is also in cosideration, but suggestions from the people on this forum say that I should go for the Boss unit. The difference in price between these two is about 150$ (Line 6 is 700$, Boss 845$ on music123.com). If I'm about to spend all that money on a guitar proccessor, it better be w/out the annoying drop-out in signal that I've expirienced with previous version of POD and Behringer's V-Amp.

  3. woaa dude those are retail prices B)

If I recall correctly, both can be had for 400 pretty much at any big retailers. US dollars that is. Maybe there's a 50 bucks difference between the Boss and the Line 6 though.

Where :D ? Could zou post a link? I don`t think that I saw it for less than those figures from my post... :D

So, BOSS is `tha thang` then, huh?

  4. Yeah, the 845$ makes it a bit steep. Line 6 POD XT Pro is around 650, maybe even 700$. Should I go for the BOSS, or satisfy myself with Line 6...? Which one's "better", in your opinion? I don't have any expirience with Roland's equipment, but I've tried Line 6 POD XT Pro and Behringer's V-AMP Pro, and they both sound great!

Also, they have (BOSS) a MIDI controller that is simillar to Behringer's... Nice...

  5. How dark? Could you make a comparison? I think that PRS Santana model has this wood combo... His tone is creamy, but, I guess, this comes from his Mesa/Boogie + Big Muff... I dunno, this sounds like a good combination. Actually, I'm in for the Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler Pensa Suhr sound (I know that the his Pensa has maple neck...).

I've tried PRS McCarthy model with a 1-piece rosewood neck and it sounded rounder than a mahogany neck, not so defined, but it is glued-in guitar (mine'll be bolt-on).

    Pfeeewwwww....

  6. I'm thinking of ordering a guitar on Warmoth site... Here are the probable specs:

    - soloist body, carved top

    - mahogany back, quilt maple top

    - rosewood neck (angled headstock) and fretboard

    - Willkinson/Gotoh trem

    - locking tuners

    - EMGs: 85, SA, SA w/SPC and EXG

How will the body and neck wood combination sound? Does anybody has expirience with this wood combo?

    Regards,

  7. Yeah, but I've asked about the XT Pro (rack) version... Is it a good investment? I'll be using it live through PA with DJs on decks + other main purpose is recording in a studio. For the price of Line 6 POD XT Pro I can get Behringer V-Amp Pro (rack) and Behringer Foot Controller FC1010. I just cannot make up my mind, I mean, there are not so many differences (at least to me) between these two - metal distorsion is better on Line 6, but the in-between stuff (bluesy, hard rock-ish) is Behringer's win (I've tested them with AKG proffesional studio headphones). On the other hand, Line 6 is a newer unit... Just dunno...

  8. I've saved some money to buy some new stuff (it's been a long time since I've done this).. I'm interested in this Amp simulator/processor... Does anybody on this forum own this unit? I'll testdrive it in a local store when I'm back from my "earned" holiday, untill then I'd like your opinions, please. Is it worth 700$?

    Thanx

  9. I own a GNX4 and I am telling you that it blows the v-amp out of the water

Come on, is that big difference?! I don't believe... V-Amp Pro has much more output options, in the end it is a rackmount device (recording purposes)... Just dunno...

    Anyone else?

Are there any gigging players that have some expirience with these two products?

  10. Friend of mine offered me to play a guitar on his DJ gigs, sort of a LIVE act, with another guy on the keyboard. Currently, I own a Behringer V-Amp 2 without FC1010 MIDI footcontroller. I'm not worried about the amp, cause the sound goes directly to mix. It happens that I have some money to spend on my gear... I have three possibilities in mind:

    1. to buy the FC1010 MIDI footcontroller and use it with my V-Amp 2

    2. to sell my V-Amp 2 and buy Digitech GNX 3

    3. to upgrade my V-Amp 2 by replacing it with V-Amp Pro rackmount version

I cannot decide... Friend of mine has Digitech GNX 1, and it sounds VERY good, but V-Amp is... well... V-Amp!

I need your opinions ASAP, cause the gigs start next week...

    Thank you in advance.

  11. Great Les Paul, GP!

Yes, we play some Doors, but usually we cover 60's and 70's stuff, like Stones, Allmans, Clapton, Cream, Free, along with alot of blues standards...we do Doors two or three times a year...should be a lot of fun, it's summer, and we have an open sky stage.

What is the name of your band?

  12. I'd go for the PRS singlecut... I think it looks more stylish than a Gibson Les Paul, even though I like Les Paul in general, especially the '58 (for the neck) and '59 (for the looks)... I like the trem option on PRS + I saw on Tremonti's site (or Alter Bridge) that he has a 24 fret red flame singlecut w/trem! Dream guitar!!! The inlays are more appealing on PRS (birds vs. crown)...

  13. Awsome!!! At first glance, I thought that front is more appealing, but... The rear ROCKS!!! Great upper horn color variation!

    Congrats 2 U!!!

Can you write down what materials did U use?

    Once again, great work!!

I would go with earth-tone colors next time, or maybe, a purple-black-cherry combo...

  14. The Radius design is perfect for a flip flop color. I have one that I did in "Magenta/Gold" flip and it's great. The way the curves are make the different colors come out at wierd angles.

:D What's a flip-flop color? Frank, could you post pictures of your guitar?

  15. I'm thinking of buying two of these necks for two Pensa-like guitars. I'm interested if any of members have any expirience with these necks... They are not too expensive, they come with a paddle for custom headstock shape, but the frets are on the thinner side... I've found more options on necks from Warmoth, but they are more expensive than StewMac necks. Any info and comments are welcome.

    Thanx.

  16. As far as the glued in necks go, I have to say that Rhoads56 has excellent approach to subject. I mean, that looks perfect. Also, Myka's singlecuts have beautiful glued in neck joints. These two examples are (to me) cornerstones of modern ergonomical approach to flawless upper frets access. AANJ from Ibanez is very good. Thing is with AANJ that you can reach for higher frets in a standing position that are not quite accessable on square heel style joints. Washburn's Steven's Extended Cutaway is probably the best bolt on design that I've seen.

  17. When I plug my guitar in Line-In, the sound comes out of my speakers, but, nothing is displayed on the main bar in Cubase (the "transport bar" or whatever). When I plug in Mic-In, the sound is awful, it has distinct delay when I play + the sound is totally distorted. Can U help me out step by step, please, to configure whatever is neccesary for the program to operate? Also, can I use the Amplitube or any other plug-in to play, but not to record? I know that this sounds totally ignorent, but I don't know how to set it up...
