will any stratocaster neck line up, and fit well with any srtatocaster body? im partsing out a ebay part built guitar project and im just a bit curious as to what i should look for other than just all american parts

i have a 87 les paul studio, shes gave me a good run but it is time to put in some new pickups. the amp im running it threw is a mesa boogie markII 70's or 80s head{i got it use and they didnt know for sure...can any of you tell me who to send the serial # too to find out?} any ways she has 6l6;s on the el34's and 6l6's{one for lead on for clean} i keep the clean channel at a pretty high gain and the lead channel real light. so i basically the closest resembanlecn i find to my rig is a ted nugent style. i want to take her the next tep because the stock picups in her arnt given me exzactly what im lookin for. my sound is, now that i think of it, a lot like the darkness if any of you are darkness fans. i throw a eq pedal and a few distortion pedals in but im not that conserned with alot of gain i just want a powerfull oldschool rock tone with reall nice breakthrew lead tones. i was thinkin about the classic 57 gibson picups, or some gibson paf's...maybe paf's with a pearly gates/ or more agressiv pick up like that in the bridge. thanks abunch for any suggestions. the craig

thanks for the posts guys... i went back and reread my original post adter reading your replies {especially drak's} and i undertand what you guys are saying, i am not asking you guys to build this for me i just wanted to see what other people are doing with their guitars so i can make my own guitar with modified aspects of guitars iv seen and liked + my own totally new ideas... i think drak understood what im getting at. on the other had i think that some of these post are a little hipicryticle{sp? sry} for instance one post said that i should make my own drawing of a totally new guitar and then compared it to perry's guitar and said it looked like a smaller jagaur. this to me tells me that you indetified that he had some fender influences....as i want influences. i dont plan to take exzact replicas of bodies and chop it into a hybrid. and drak said " I came up with all of them on my own by researching pics," this says to me he lookat at other guitars to find out what styles he liked/dissliked etc. and then made his own. this is what i want to do so i apologize ofr my first post being abiguous as to what i ment. thanks abuch guys thos links have gave me a bunch of cool ideas i apreciate it.

ok guys i want to build a guitar that sounds great for blues. i have always loved the body of the jagstang, and untill i get a little bit more knowledgeable i dont want to build my own from scratch. so i want to start with the body of a fender jagstang. now i am looking for that rough and tumble kinda blues. like almost a rock blues{areosmith style} but i basically want a blues tone. the problem is on my mustang, i hate the short scale neck. it is way to easy to play and it doesnt feal natural. so i want basically have a jag stang body with a strarocaster style neck. i no this will involve fabricating. for pickups i was thinking a lace sencer or a tex mex pick up in the neck position. for the bridge im still looking and up for suggestions i now some may not see way put all the work into it to make it do somthing it was never ment to do but iv got some time and think it will be fun. i apologize for the vaugeness of my plan and uncertainty of where i am going with it but i would really like some imput on pick ups, and if this job is worht doing or to hard or whatever. the alternative is to buy the jag stang and set it up for rock witch will suit my band style and what not and take my american strat and turn it into my bluse machine but it has jsut been done to many times. if this sucks and im just being over zealus and shooting after an un achevable goal let me know but if it wlill be cool and sound good i think it would be worht the time...you guys now a lot more than i do some let me know what you think thanks

meegs i apologize for my use of the word evil...im trying really hard not to offend anyone, and picking my words as carefully as i can but i guess i let one get past me. i no its kinda steryotypical but it was the best way to describe it and let everyone no what i ment buy it. once again im not intentionally using it to bash metal, i love it just like the rest of you.

after that post i took a good look at both and i guess after a comprarison like that they dont have to much in common. just that little nudge by the bottem strap lock. i guess i just saw it and it looked like a mokin bird image i had in my head.

perry very nice guitar i like that a lot. as for all this negative feed back i truely do not understand what is so hard to understand here...im not trying to be a jerk but can you not get my drift here? im looking for "ideas" ok ideas for my guitar... i garentee every guitar in this forums has some comon feature with another guitar. are u trying to tell me that no one has eve looked at another guitar for influences or ideas on how a curve should go? i mean wow perrys guitar was beautifull i like it alot but it has some fetures i can clearly so from other guitars. they are not the same exactyl but they sare common charecteristics with fenders jaguare. it has a pointy top left portion. and a very stout back end with that long sweeping curve. now truly im not trying to say i no more than you people or sound belittleing, im the new guy. but i dont get why you people are taking such offese to my wanted ideas for my own project. i want to draw my own out and do all the good "roughing her in" work that goes along with makeing it your guitar ans no one elses, but i want to gatehr ideas and get a base for what i do. you would not try to paint a picture of art gallery quality without having a long period of admireing painters before you and learning form what they do. i dont mean to sound so critical or start a flame war at all so please for give my comming of as harsh but i think you all mis understood what i was getting at and pehaps i mislead you so i may be at fault. please continue tho i love perrys guitar very unique in its own ways and not evil. it is a beautiful peice that anyone can look at and say that is cool to. thanks abunch for the post thus far!!

thanks you for your reply. will it considerably change the tone if i were to move the bringe back? and also i saw a homemade one on ebay with a {fender music master neck} what is that. i have never heard of this neck. is it a short scale neck like the jag/mustang's? thanks and sorry for my ignorance

hey fellas, what neck does the jag stang use? is it the fender mustang neck? also is it possible to put a strat neck onto one. what would be the problem with it if not? if i modified it to fit into the body well and have a good action height would the neck scales be too weird to maintain a good intunation? thanks for any comments, im just planing out my next project.

yeah unique and my own. im not saying im gunna rip off someone else disign but it is alot easier if you have a couple of elements of diff. guitars to incorperate into it. i am lookin at like a jagstang type body. they are cool but it was no devil horns. just a non evil element and more unique than a strat. no i dont say hmm a jagstang was built for blues but it has some cool features i like

i agree with you to an exstent. i understand what your saying and it is a very good point guitar has come a long way but i am just looking for some ideas that dont A look like a melting clock slavador doly painting or B look like saitins birth mark. it seems every one has a one off strat or a bc rich looking think. even if it is a little spacy im looking for ideas for a more contemporary lets say, style guitar. that i can say is unique and my own but you have to understand devil horns and blues clubs dont mix. i apreciate your reply. thanks any others? oh wow skibum posted while i was repling. i like that alot. a lot less pointy and showy it looks really good thanks

hey fellas i havent been her long but every guitar iv seen{atleast built from scratch ones} have been almost identical to an exsiting body or looks like the devil himeslf chizeled the guitar out of chole with his nails and teeth. does anyone have a cool lookin blues guitar or atleast anything but metal. now dont get me wrong guys i love metal. and i understand that more metalheads are into going all out unstead of having a more humble design.. but if you guys have any pictures of homemade, more subtley designed guitars i would love to see them

hey fellas im new. my question is on the strat body topic. what is the difference between mexican, american, and squiers{japan it hink}?? are they all alder? is it basically just the name on it or is there really a difference. im talking about the body alone. no electronics or necks or knobs or paint or anyhting else. thanks the craig
